We selected this hotel from several web site postings showing a lovely old, ivy-covered building that used to house monks and function as a mill. It, indeed, is an old, ivy-covered building, but not nearly as charming and pretty as the photos would indicate. The grounds are unkempt and the interior of the building is time worn and in need of updating (the artificial flowers everywhere need to go). We had booked a Superior room, but it appeared to be very standard instead. Our friends had booked a twin bedded room and prepaid the reservation, but were charged a substantially higher price upon check in for the separate beds. The location is approximately 30 minutes from Beaune, the closest larger city, in the middle of nowhere, making it difficult to have dinner in Beaune because of the drive back at night on unlit, winding roads. We have stayed in several places like this in other regions in France and Italy during past trips, but felt this hotel was not properly represented in the descriptions. The staff was cordial enough, but did not give the impression that they cared much about the property or providing top notch service. This place certainly has potential and was, most likely, a lovely inn in it's day, but definitely needs some attention. We would not stay in this hotel again.
