Unfriendly welcome ("we don't have your booking, we don't have asuite for this price"), then the booking is found after all and all of the sudden the price is ok. However, it turns out they really don't have asuite for this price because the so-called "suite" we are shown (a modern bungalow that has nothing to do with the once probably charming mill) is just a normal room with terrible decoration (the hotel altogether looks a bit faded and has probably seen much better and cleaner days) and a tiny TV room with a bed-sofa. My mother-in-law gets a duvet (produced out of a box in that very room, most likely not washed). When opening the bathroom window next morning after showering, a bushel of hair flies in... At dinner, one of the forks was has a chemical smell and extremely unpleasant bitter taste (probably dipped in Javel water and not washed afterwards). We get a new fork, but no excuse. The crowning glory: when checking out we get charged the price for a menu although my mother in law just had a soup, salad and a dessert. Thus, the soup is supposed to cost 23 Euro.. Hello? After complaining, the hotel charges the soup separately but lists another price than in the menu from the night before (effectively charging 4 Euro more). My husband was ready to hit the roof (or the propriétaire, for that matter) and I was close to boiling point too... And guess what: in the end they told us that it was our fault - if we hadn't complained we would have "won" and saved 1 Euro. This kind of arrogance and disregard for customers speaks for itself... France at its very worst, definitely a "no go".
