Kirkfield Mains is absolutely EXCELLANT!!! We could not have wished for a better stay. We stayed for 10 days in late January and early February while visiting relatives in the area and conducting some additional family history research.

We had just retired and this was our last stop on a 36 day holiday across England, Wales, France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium and Scotland before returning to Canda. Kirkfield Mains was by far the best location that we stayed during our 36 day visit. We stayed in 5 star hotels in France, Switzerland and Italy and they were not even close to the service and style of Kirkfield Mains.

Julie and Sandy made you feel so at home and we really appreciated that. We loved the scenery and even enjoyed playing with the family dogs! We did not want to leave when our vacation was over as we had such a great time. We will absolutely stay here the next time we return to Scotland.

If you are in the area, we would stongly encourage you to stay at the Kirkfield Mains B&B.

I was due to play in a golf tournament down in Lanark and having not stayed in the area previously I did a google search and came across this beautiful B&B by pure chance. The sat nav got me to the front gate and from this point on I was smittten.

Set in the most stunning surroundings this converted barn is purely first class. I was greeted by the owner Julie who made me feel most welcome and treated me like one of her own family. Julie could not do enough rreally and was very helpful in helping me choose a nice restaurant in the area.

The breakfast was fit for a king with all things you would expect and plenty more.

The only down side to my trip was that I was only there for one night!

Nestled away in the hills in Kirkfield Bank, Lanark, Scotland is a gorgeous bed and breakfast - Kirkfield Mains. Hosted by Julie & Sandy Brown...a lovely pleasant and friendly couple who will go out of their way to help you with anything from days out to booking meals in some of the most fantastic resturaunts. It is the perfect hideaway but really well signposted so you can't miss it.

Once inside, after a warm welcome from Julie and Sandy, you are shown to one of the gorgeous 3 rooms available. Each room has ultra modern decor and great artwork, power showers, flat screen tv, radio, dvd player with a great selection to choose from, wine chiller, kettle, tea, coffee, hot choc, yummy scottish shortbread!!! The rooms are beautiful and cosy, the beds are really comfy with fine quality bedding and cushions - its like being in a 5 star hotel but much more tranquil. Great views out of the windows of surrounding hills and fields, and squirrels in the garden!

Breakfast in the morning is really worth waiting for! The dining room has a bistro feel, really elegant. Fresh fruit ,yogurt ,cereals and jams to start with, and then a massive Scottish breakfast with local produce all cooked to perfection and if you can fit it in there is also Scots porridge! Really nice tea and coffee too. You can't get out of your seat for ages!
I love this place so much I have been staying here at least 3 times a year with my husband and I could not stay anywhere else over the past 3 years. In fact I remember being in tears when they were fully booked and we had to stay somewhere else!

I could not recommend it more highly, the surroundings are breathtaking and the B&B gets top marks from me and my husband, my friends who have stayed, and everyone in the visitors book!!! An absolute perfect place to stay for couples and for families!!

stayed with Julie and Sandy for a week in march whilst renovation work was taking place at home, it was just the escape we needed, our hosts made us feel more than welcome in surroundings which will be hard to beat, it was obvious that Julie has interior design skills as the room was beautiful, lovely crisp linen, freeview tv many dvd's to choose from ,the surrounding area is a must see, spectacular views and even though i stay locally i never made time to enjoy the lovely walks on offer prior to my stay with the Browns. i found this wee gem on Scotlands Best B&B's and was not disappointed.... first class
