Nice enough location. Right on the beach. Limited parking, but there is a beach car park down the road which you could park in.

Ok rooms - lacking some of the basics like soap (there was Tesco value hand wash) and cleaning. The rooms were not tidied during our stay, and the floor got very sandy very quickly!

Breakfast was ok - did laugh when asked tea or coffee and when specified coffee, a pot of boiling water was brought out and I was directed to the sachets of tea and coffee on the table. The irony of it was that we were sitting a few metres from a coffee machine, as breakfast was in the cafe downstairs. I wonder what I would have got if I asked for tea?

Our room was at the back of the guest house, and during our stay the owners sat on their patio below the room and talked until the small hours. I now know the whole of Porthcawl's business.

With a few simple touches, such as toiletries, some better cleaning, fresh tea and coffee and a greater thought as to the layout of the accomodation, this could be a cracking little hotel. The owners were pleasent people, and the cafe downstairs (owned and run by their son) was an absolute gem.
