“"Loved the Caseron Plaza"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2008

My wife and I decided to visit this lovely town for just 2 days and 1 night. We didn´t make any reservations in advanced, still we showed up at the Caseron Plaza. We were offered to pick rooms either at the first or second floor. The rates for the first floor were US$35 and for the 2nd floor US$40. We choose the 2nd floor since the room had a balcony. The room was very big and comfortable, TV set w/ Cable and a mini bar with really cheap prices. The hotel has a pool, Turk bath and a huge view deck. Private parking is available at not cost, but tips are welcome since the concierge has to open and close the door. Breakfast is offered for US$4.00 dollars with plenty to eat and lunches go for US$5.00 to US$8.00 - we choosed the $5 dollar house lunch - which included: soup of the day, rice, a choice of pork or beef, salad, beans, fried platain, juice and postre.

Everybody was very nice and attentive, they help us arrange a horse riding tour to the river which lasted one and half hours, and it cost US$25.00 dollars for both of us. We also went to a nearby bridge (5 km from the town´s plaza) which is famous for its construction - there is Moto-Taxi that will take you there for US$6.00 round trip and the driver will wait for you 30 minutes while you take pictures. Since the hotel didn´t offer dinner, we went to pizzeria Napoli; we were going to order a full pizza but the owner said it was too big for the 2 of us, instead she suggested we order by the slice - which was huge in size. We ordered 3 slices and 4 beers all for US$13.00, including tip.

We also went to the local Zona Rosa, where they have several bars to choose from and where you can sit outside, enjoy a drink, the music and watch the locals walk by. We ordered a half bottle of rum with Coca-Cola and Sprite for mixing - all for US$15.00

We highly recommend this hotel. The service was excellent and we felt we were treated like family members. All the employees were helpful and very friendly. If we ever come back to this colonial town, we know for sure where to stay.

  • Liked — The excellent service and cheap prices.
  • Disliked — I can´t think of something.

“great getaway outside of medellín”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2007

This hotel is located in the main square of Santa Fe de Antioquia, a lovely colonial town located an hour or so northwest of Medellín. It is located in a gorgeous rustic colonial style building. Its rooms are spacious and simple, and a ygreat buy at about US$40 per night. Try to get one with a balcony. There is no hot water, but you don't need it as Santa Fe's climate is on the hot side, although it does cool down at night, and we slept deliciously even without the ceiling fan. The hotel features a great swimming pool, and has a big deck in the back from which to admire sunsets across the lush Antioquian mountain landscape. We also enjoyed the hammock zone on the second floor overlooking the plant filled central courtyard. Although this is known as the second best hotel in town, it is a much better bargain than the pricier Mariscal Robledo, whose meal plans force you to eat there. We found service to be excellent and look forward to staing again in this hotel when we return one day to this lovely town.

  • Liked — the pool
  • Disliked — internet was pricey compared to anywhere else in town

“Quaint, cozy, and perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2007

I spent one night at Hotel Caseron Plaza in Santa Fe de Antioquia (Colombia) in early February 2007 with my husband and two other couples. We were there on vacation and a contact in Medellin arranged the hotel for us. The hotel was quaint and cozy and perfectly suited to the warm climate. We had a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the pool. We kept the door to the balcony open and used the ceiling fan and we were very comfortable sleeping with just a sheet. All three of the rooms used by our party had a queen size bed. One room also had a twin size bed while another room had two twin size beds (in addition to the queen size). The rooms had TV’s but we didn’t turn them on. Two of the three rooms had bathrooms out on the balconies – the other room did not have a balcony so the bathroom was inside the room. It should be noted that the showers did not have hot water, but it was somewhat refreshing given the local climate. The second floor of the hotel’s inner courtyard had lots of hammocks available for guest use. The six of us spent the night lounging there and didn’t see any other guests the entire evening (although, it was a Wednesday night and it didn’t seem like there were very many other guests at the hotel).

The hotel pool was nice, although a little cloudy, and had plenty of lounge chairs. There was a pool slide but it didn’t seem sturdy enough for adults. The hotel also had a restaurant – one couple ate lunch there and said it was very good. In the morning, there was coffee and juice available in the hotel lobby, but not continental breakfast. This was not a problem since there were several small cafes just outside of the hotel where we were able to get light breakfasts for US $1-2 per person.

The hotel is located right on the main plaza in the center of the small town and it’s easy to walk to everything from the hotel.
