“Caribbean home-from-home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Staying with Normand and Louise is like a low-key house party - guests come and go, socialise and go on trips together if they fancy it (and to reduce costs -St Lucia is NOT a cheap destination!) or do their own thing. It wouldn't suit you if you want wild night life - no noise after 10pm is politely requested - or conversely if you want complete privacy as three of the rooms share the generous space around the pool rather than having private terraces or balconies. But if you fall between these two extremes the Inn on the Bay offers an excellent option for those who hate large hotels but don't want the hassle of doing all their own arranging of trips etc

What makes this place so special is the superb attention from Normand including booking two days worth of 'surprises' for my 60th birthday, constantly ferrying guests up and down the (rough) road to the bay, fixing the erratic St Lucian internet access and always acting the congenial host. With Louise and Rose's quiet attention to the housekeeping side of things you can be sure of a comfortable and relaxing stay at this small B&B.

TIP: the roads on St Lucia, especially the west side, vary from just adequate to atrocious, and we write as experienced off-road drivers. We hired a car and enjoyed exploring but going beyond Marigot Bay for dinner was just not on - you'd be sick driving back. To see as much of the island as possible, and especially if you want to dine at some of the very special places like Ladera or Hotel Chocolat, book yourselves into those places for an overnight stay.

Room Tip: The upstairs room has the best views.

“Inn On The Bay--scored a perfect 10+”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at a very SPECIAL "Inn On The Bay" in Saint Lucia. Normand and Louise, the gracious hosts, definitely take personal service to the highest level. Normand greeted us at the steps of the Inn when we arrived and could not do enough for us during our stay.

The view of Marigot Bay from the terrace is breathtaking, contributing to a relaxing vacation by the sea. The Inn is spacious, and very clean-- like a home away from home. We stayed in room #4 which is on the upper level. Even though there is no AC there was always a wonderful cross-breeze thus we were never uncomfortable. There is no TV which was an added plus however WiFi is available throughout the Inn. I loved the fact that there were plenty of hangers (my thing) in the room along with many special touches.

Breakfast was a daily treat. Louise always served wonderful homemade muffins/bread. Fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, juice--just about anything you could want was provided.

You can enjoy a short walk to the village however if you are not agile you might find it a bit difficult. Normand is always ready and willing to give you a ride down and pick you up. From any shop or resturant all you have to say is " please give Normand a call" and he is right there. It was nice to be able to try different resturants each day.

The island is beautiful and there are many interesting places to investigate. Normand is most helpful in suggesting ideas and helping with planning tours. Our taxi driver, Albert was able to point out local points of interest that the average tourist might not be able to find on their own. It was exciting to see how the locals live, work and play.

We enjoyed meeting the other guests. As there are only five rooms we were able to meet, mingle, and talk with everyone. One aspect we enjoyed was the fact there was a mixture of ages. One evening Normand and Louise hosted a sunset cocktail party on one of the decks facing the sea. Everyone had such a good time. One day when Normand found out that it was my birthday he brought me a bottle of delicious French wine. How great is that !!!

This is a fantastic Inn with superb innkeepers. Normand and Louise have found the right mixture of luxury, personal hospitality, romance, privacy, location and all the amenities.

As we were leaving Normand and Louise were there to wave good-bye..another of their personal touches. If they ever open another place we woud love to stay with them.

Room Tip: All the rooms a great. Upper floor has the best view. Hurricane Hole, Ladera Resort (Pitons) and Jac...

“"I'll be back"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

My wife and I have just returned from our first visit to St Lucia and, by all accounts, it is a wonderful Caribbean island. I say 'by all accounts' because we hardly left Marigot Bay during our 10 days! The Inn on the Bay is delightful with absolutely spectacular views of the Bay to the rear and the Caribbean Sea (and beautiful sunsets) to the front. The Inn is spotlessly clean (thanks to Rose) and our room was perfect. Louise's breakfasts were perfect for us too with lovely fresh fruit a variety of cereals and her freshly baked muffins, cake or croissants. Hot drinks are available all day (it was nice to be able to have a cup of tea on the terrace after a long day on the beach) and for everything else, there's Normand!! Normand is the 'go to' man at the Inn. Lifts to and from the village were a pleasure with Normand's conversation keeping us both amused - always a smile when he arrived to pick us up no matter what time we called. Normand arranged our couple of excursions by water taxi for great snorkelling along the coast and also arranged flowers for my wife's birthday (even went to pick them up for me). Really the care and attention from Normand and Louise was exceptional.

Normand - I'll be back. Alan & Jacky

“A Little Gem in the Caribbean”

My husband and I spent a week at the Inn on the Bay to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time. As people in the earlier posts have already said, Normand and Louise were amazing hosts. They were at the end of the driveway to welcome us when we got there, and sent us off with a big hug when we left.

During our stay, Normand and Louise were extremely accommodating. Unfortunately, our luggage got lost by the airline upon our arrival. Normand went out of his way to track it down, help with the lost customs paperwork and get it delivered asap, all the while we lounged by the pool. I doubt the level of service would have been the same at a larger hotel. Throughout the week, Normand entertained us with his stories as he chauffeured us back and forth immediately upon our request to the shops and restaurants. He also helped us organize a fishing trip and a bike tour that we got to by taking a water taxi (highly recommend!) Anytime we wanted anything throughout the week, Normand made it happen.

While it wasn't the most luxurious place I've ever stayed, it was my favorite because of our excellent hosts and the intimate nature of the Inn. A Caribbean vacation without loud music, fights over pool chairs or blaring TVs was absolutely perfect.

“Tranquil paradise with amazing views and operated by amazing hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

My husband and i just returned from a 12 day vacation in St. Lucia. We spent the first 7 nights in the north end of the island and the remainder at Normand and Louise's gem of a hotel. The entire trip was phenomenal as the island is amazing, but staying at the Inn on the Bay was the highlight for sure. It's location tucked in a hillside overlooking the majestic Marigot bay is quiet, relaxing, and beautiful. The inn itself is absolutely perfect. Nothing over the top, but exactly what one needs for a peaceful and romantic get away. Beyond that, the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and homey. Due to the small size of the inn, and entertaining personas of Norman and Louise (the owners), the experience was friendly, intimate, and fun.
Highlights: Normand and Louise! These hosts are much fun, welcoming, and attentive to all their guests. Beyond their wonderful hospitality, they are frankly a fun couple to talk to and create the wonderful atmosphere at the inn.

The inn is up on the hill, but is a short and really beautiful walk to Marigot Bay. I loved walking down when we wanted to go to town in the day. If you don't want to want however, Normand is exceedingly generous with offering rides.

I think every guest has mentioned this but it is well worth mentioning. Breakfast was phenomenal. Every morning Louise makes delectable pastries, served with fresh fruit and cereal and good strong coffee.

I could go on, but I think this captures everything. The Inn on the Bay is well deserving of its' number one spot on trip advisor! I look forward to a time where my husband and I can return!
