Located in pedestrian-friendly Alsancak, Yaman met all of our needs for a decent price. We booked three rooms at this boutique hotel once we reached Izmir, and got a lower rate than advertised online for our mid-week stay. They put us in the rather large corner room at no additional charge. The staff was unobtrusive and polite. (I am not sure if they spoke English, since I was traveling with Turkish speakers, but most locals spoke at least some English.) Breakfast was tasty and served in an elegant dining room; the only drawback was instant coffee.
Also on the down side, the sheets felt like paper, and the TV was tiny. The shower was also very small, but the towels were enormous. The beds were extremely firm.
Only two blocks from the main shopping promenade and bar street, and four blocks from the beautiful Kordon, the location was perfect. And amazingly, it was also very quiet throughout the night. I would give this hotel 3.5 stars if I could, since amenities were basic and the service was average, but our experience was positive overall.
