“Poor value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

This hotel is way over priced for the standard of amenities that are provided. Unfortunately, this hotel was our final two-night stay at the end of a seventeen day travelling holiday, that myself and my partner were on with friends travelling from the UK through France and Spain. We stayed in many places along the way paying a range of prices in a variety of hotels and this one was most definitely an anti-climax compared with all the others. All the places in which we stayed were well researched and we feel that unfortunately, the website for this hotel is somewhat misleading in terms of what to expect.
The beach view is pretty enough however, this is totally overshadowed by the standard of accommodation provided. On our arrival the service we received was mediocre. A smile goes a long way in my opinion and we failed to even receive this. The decor was ‘tired’ to say the least. The corridor to the rooms was dark and gloomy with tatty looking chipboard adorning the ceiling. It smelt musty and of old tobacco which was most off putting.
The room was in desperate need of re-decoration, especially the bathroom which was gloomy and again smelt musty and old. My bedside light didn’t work, the carpet looked well past it’s best and there were dirty marks on the bathroom door. No tea or coffee facilities were provided in the room, which, when paying well over £100 per night is a little on the mean side! Noise from other rooms was also an issue and at times you would have been forgiven for thinking people were in our room! For example curtains being drawn, doors opening and closing, people walking past the room, normally I don’t have an issue falling to sleep, but here I found it a real problem.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be bothered by this, as for us the experience of a holiday is what you do whilst you are there and we did a lot. However, I feel compelled to write this review as I felt somewhat ‘ripped off’. I have stayed in many places around the world, paid less and received more in terms of quality, cleanliness and service. Had we have been charged half what we paid I wouldn’t dream of complaining. I have stayed in basic accommodation many times before and had no problem with it. It is a real shame that I feel the need to complain but I am bitterly disappointed.
This hotel either needs a total revamp or to look at the prices it charges its customers because as it stands we will not be recommending it to anyone or staying there again.

“right at the beach”

A really basic and average hotel, nothing to complain about and nothing to praise either. We had a seaview room which meant exactly as stated: u can sit on the small balcony and watch the sea. Room was clean, at some points there was also free wifi. Breakfast was for extra charge. There is a nice cafeteria around with tasty croissants and coffee, so I recommend to have breakfast there.
Hotel has also sauna and pool facilities.

“Great little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2008

Stayed here for three nights with our three year old at the end of July. We were given a lovely room overlooking the sea which is right in front of the hotel and small balcony. It was very hot when we were there, but leaving the balcony doors open gave us lovely sea breezes. However, the garbage trucks and street cleaners start early and as the hotel faces the street, it was pretty noisy in the early morning.

The quaint French custom of driving motorbikes without any silencers/mufflers also made the street pretty noisy late into the night and early morning if you have a sea view room.

The staff are super and speak some English, they were patient also, with our appalling French and pretended to understand it.

Parking outside, close, free and plentiful.

Delightful gardens to the rear with sun loungers, tables and chairs and a pool which is enclosed in a glass enclosure. You can eat outside if you like and when we missed breakfast, no one minded us bringing our croissants there to eat later in the morning while they served us coffee.

Never did manage to make it down in time for breakfast so can't comment.

Room was adequate, not spacious but by three star French standards, more than satisfactory. We had an extra single bed in the room for our three year old (I had asked if a folding bed was available) but we later found that they had charged us an extra 25.00 euros/night for this. On the other hand, someone mentioned that rooms with the extra bed were a little larger so maybe we did ok. It made the night rate almost 140 euros which was a bit steep for a hotel of this calibre.

This hotel has a pretty fantastic restaurant but it is not cheap. We arrived late and were asked if we wanted to take dinner and we agreed. When seated we were handed a menu which had no prices, and ordered from it. We had three courses for 2, the child menu (excellent value at 14 euros for the child!) and several soft drinks. The bill came to over 130 euros.

The food was really good but if you don't want to pay these kinds of prices, don't eat in the hotel's restaurant! (outside the hotel, is a menu WITH prices).

The hotel also seems to have a sauna, small gym and jacuzzi but we did not try it and I am not sure it was available. A charge might have been payable.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and had no complaints.

“good hotel but even better restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2008

we needed somewhere that was central to the normandy beaches and had parking. we were very pleased with our choice.we had a room with a balcony with a sea view.the shower was very good, the bed comfortable and the room was clean, tidy and fresh.there was loads of free parking outside the hotel, but i would imagine in summer it may get a tad busy.
although from the outside it looks like a 70's throw back hotel there seemed to be a lot of new furniture and decoration, all in good taste.the staff were very helpfull, spoke a bit of english and smiled.
the jewel in this hotels crown was the food in the resteraunt.it is fantastic.we were a little worried about the menu but the food was all local and fresh and of michelin standard.
i recommend the local norman beer that they serve, far better than the massed produced stuff, but a bit on the potent side.

“Family-friendly by the sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2007

We had really struggled to find somewhere reasonably priced (Saturday night in the middle of August) that could comfortably accommodate two adults and two children in separate rooms. When I contacted this hotel direct, they immediately offered two interconnecting rooms - one with a balcony overlooking the sea and the other with the two cots. We paid around 200 euros in total, which compared favourably to other hotels in the area, most of which couldn't offer communicating rooms or put one than one cot in each room. The rooms themselves were of a good size, the one with the balcony being slightly larger. They were reasonably well-equipped and comfortable with slightly dated decor and fittings as you often find in French 3 star hotels. The rooms were clean though and the beds comfortable and we thought it good value for money for a family visit. We ate in the restaurant in the evening - they have an excellent 33 euro menu. Food was really good and served in pretty dining room overlooking the sea. Breakfast is buffet at 10 euros per person. The hotel has an advantage over many others in that not only is it on the seafront but has a garden and pool at the back, as well as a free private parking area. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a seaside hotel near the D-Day beaches and particularly for families. The hotel wouldn't set the world on fire as there is little architectural charm and rooms are practical rather than quaint but there is really nothing you can fault it on and we would certainly return if we wanted to stay in the area.
