“NOT WORTH IT”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

We just returned from 2 weeks in Croatia and BiH. Hotel Macola was by far the worst place we stayed. The hall light shined into the room through a window over the door. It couldn't be blocked out. The reception we received was not welcoming. Noisy. The price was the highest we paid anywhere during our trip. The toilet got stuck with the water running when one flushed. Breakfast was mediocre at best. If the prices are as high as what we paid, the hotel should have been updated and modernized. Felt like I was in a hotel that had not been changed (including mattresses) in more than 20 years.

“Terrible surroundings”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

It is located just opposite the main road and a night club. The noises-- both the singings and music were intolerable from 10pm to 4am the next morning. We were just opposite it and could not sleep all night. Although we changed our room just a little bit backyard on the second night but was only silghtly better but was also very noisy. The noise could also be heard from those facing away from the night club. It is totally not acceptable to stay in that hotel and is not recommended to stay again unless you enjoy the all night music.

“Very surprised!”

Have stayed in this hotel for 2 nights,as we took a weekend to visit the Plitvice lakes. We've booked an appartment in the hotel, and I was sooo surprised. Its not very big, but the space has been really organised in a best possible way. Bathroom is perfect, and a jacuzzi speaks for itself! Staff-well at the bar they were good, and on the reception depending of the shift-2 staff were perfect and other 2 obviously new so did not know some basic informations.
We did not eat in the hotel,we used either MACOLA restaurant nearby which was amazing-so cheap and meals were so huge and delicious. Otherwise i would recommend Licka kuca just near the lakes. Driving distance from the lake to hotel about 20 min,but the scenery is beautiful.

“Just fine”

I used this hotel as an overnight stop before going to Lake Plitvice the following day. It's a good 30 minutes drive from the hotel to Lake Plitvice National Park. Korenica is a very small town with just a few convenience stores.

The hotel itself is far from luxurious, but cheery and bright. My room on the third floor (attic) is sparsely furnished - a single bed, a small TV (that didn't seem to work), a small nightstand and a chair. The bathroom is well-lit and the shower is alright. The 2 big advantages are air-conditioning and the abundance of electrical outlet in the room. The major disadvantage is that being on the attic floor, half of the room has very low ceiling (less than 4 feet). Also note that the elevator does not reach the third floor.

I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. The food was not great, but the quantity was sufficient. The breakfast buffet has very little choice and ran out of food/dishes constantly. The restaurant staff was not very enthusiastic, but the receptionist was very nice and responsive. I asked for an extra bath towel and it was brought up to my room immediately.

Last September I stayed at the Hotel Jezero. In terms of location, Hotel Jezero is an excellent choice as it is right at the entrance to the National Park. In terms of room quality, both Hotel Jezero and Hotel Macola are mediocre, but nonetheless adequate for an overnight stop while exploring the beautiful National Park.
