“Brilliant hotel :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Had no idea what to expect when i first arrived, but it became clear this hotel was certainly a clean and friendly hotel to stay in. I would say VERY family friendly! when we arrived the receptionist greeted us and showed us to are rooms, and as it was 4 o'clock in the morning it was greatly apperciated as i was tiered and ready for bed straight away!

The rooms were quite basic, but all you needed as we didn't spend hardly any of are time in the rooms, we stayed in block 1 on the very top floor...the apartment was very big and very clean, we had a brilliant maid who came and cleaned the room even washed are pots some days which we didn't expect! The balcony was massive which was nice to sit on and look out at the views when we wanted to relax on are own and stil get a sun tan :D. The only downside we found to the rooms is that when it was time to get ready and go out for the night the showers only had a trickle of water coming through.

When we first went down to are pool, the staff realised we were new to the hotel, came and greeted us and told us if we needed anything just ask, we choose to eat in the hotel many mornings and nights and during the day when we was having a lazy day around by the pool. The food was good and if we didn't like anything or wanted something that wasn't on the menu we asked them and they made us it :). We attended 1 of the apartments turkish nights, it was so much fun and lots of entertainment well worth the money, and with this we met other young girls and lads, who we became friends with and when out with during the days and nights, so thanks to the turkish night we had more brilliant company! Also when you are around by the pool everyone becomes like one group! The pool/pool area is also VERY clean as i know this can be a massive put off on a holiday if it is'nt clean..

The only bad side i could think to the hotel is, the walk to the beach is about 20 mins, not so bad during the day..but when we was walking back after the nights out in early hours the few streets before are unlit and a tad scary! However you can catch the bus or get a taxi to solve these problems, there are also great pubs and restraunts just around the corner that are away from the beach and the hussle and bussle of it all!

I can't hence how friendly and welcoming the staff are, not one bad word can be said for them! and i would gladly go back to these apartments, and when i go back to Marmaris if i don't stay there i WILL be going to visit them again :))
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try this hotel its AMAZING!!

Room Tip: we had a top floor apartment, quiet and so nice!

“We had a great time!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We (3 adults & 2 children) stayed at the Albatros in August for 2 weeks. We stayed self catering and the facilities were what we'd expected being our 8th time in Turkey. 2 electric rings, kettle, fridge a couple of pans and basic utensils. You could make simple/one pot meals. The rooms were spotless and I did check after watching tv programs!! The beds were clean but not changed that often. I think once per week which is ok when your at home but when the temperature is 45 degrees and your feet are dirty from the dusty roads the beds need changing more often! The staff were all friendly but 'Brian' wants EVERYONE to eat every meal in the restaurant which we didn't want to do. I found him a bit stroppy on a few occasions although still a nice guy. The food is freshly prepared on site and is very good. The pool sides are very cramped and it was sometimes difficult to negotiate around people's sunbeds etc. however, there were 2 pools and the one across the road was much quieter so we tended to stay there. There are trees to hide under when the sun gets too relentless!! The poolsides were also quite dangerously slippy probably due the water and suntan creams. It's about a 15 minute walk to the beach, shops and bars etc but the road down to the beach is dark!! The sea did not look nice at all so we didn't venture in!! Just one word of advice - the man in the shop over the road actually bit my daughter's arm and she refused to go anywhere near the shop again. My daughter was 14 at the time and I informed one of the staff at the hotel. I told him that if we were in England I would have called the Police! My daughter didn't want a fuss so it was dropped. We walked from the hotel down to the beach and then along to the harbour and it took us 35 minutes. The harbour is big, busy and has lots of things to see and do. Beautiful shops, Bar Street with all the pubs and clubs, boats and a very nice indoor bazaar. I enjoyed it but we missed our holiday in Side so are planning to return to Side this year :-)

“Very Basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Arrived at the Albatros Apartments at 4 AM, very tired and just wanting to go to bed. We were shown to the reception by our rep. Once there we were given our keys and that was it . We had to ask where our room was. The girl on reception was not very bothered about it and after asking her again she reluctanty showed us across the road to the second apartment block and told it was on the second floor, as there was no lift we had to carry our own cases upstairs. This is the first time that I have had to do this in 20 years of holidaying in various countries around the world including last year in Turkey. The room was very basic ( I know that we did not pay much for the apartments, but this was very basic) The room could not be classed as apartments as we only had a fridge and a kettle, not even cooking rings. The room was clean and the towels were cleaned every 3 days which is the norm in Turkey. The shower was very hit and miss with it going off in mid shower. The room on the top floor was very big which could easily fit in 4 adults. The two pools were very clean with us using the quieter pool on second apartment blocks. The only downside to using the pool was that we had to purchase drinks from the bar. The staff very friendly, but we got the impression because we did not eat there every night that they did not like this and paid more attention to the other people that was staying there. The location was OK with there being a 15 min walk to the beach, but only a couple of minutes walk to Armutalan where there are loads of bars and restaurants. By the side of the apartments there is a small shop for basic items. They were very friendly and helpful, answering all our questions. If you are looking for a very basic apartment and are willing to eat in their restaurant evey night, then this is the apartments for you. We will not be going back to this apartment again because we like to try different experiences in Marmaris!

Room Tip: Apartment block across the road does not have a lift

“Couldn't get in this year.”

I visited in May 2010 and tried to book for 2011, but it was fully booked and I couldn't get in, what does that tell you. I did visit them a couple of times during my holiday and went for their Turkish night. This is a great family run small hotel, which means they can give you a more personal service. You will not get the hassle and sleazy behaviour of some other establishments and is ideal for families. Samir, (who introduces himself as Brian because he thinks it's too difficult for us to pronounce) is a great guy and he can't do enough for you. During my holiday in May 2010, he cooked a special Ottoman meal for me which was not on the menu, no idea what it was called but it was great. I wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend it to friends and family.

Room Tip: There is a seperate block for the 2 bedroom apartments which do not have a lift and therefore may be...
