“Great value hotel in wonderful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

Stayed here for 4 days at the end of January on a school project trip. Great value at 54 Euro per night for room with half board( 1 person ) 64 Euro for two people. Nice room not luxurious but perfectly fine with lovely balcony looking onto a beautiful beach. Lovely buffet breakfast with freshly cooked bacon and eggs. Dinner does get a bit repetitive but lots to eat and good variety. We had lunch once which had a chef cooking up fresh fish and meat. Lovely pool area which unfortunately it was too cold in January to enjoy. There seemed to be entertainment every night in the hotel . In January most of the residents were senior citizens on extended winter stays.

“ROOMS STILL IN THE 70'S!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

We stayed in the Playadulce for a week and were very dissappointed with the quality of the rooms.
We arrived after midnight and went up to our room. Unfortunately it was next to the lifts and as my husband is a very light sleeper we went straight back to reception and asked for another room.
To cut a long story short we saw 3 rooms all which we found unacceptable and eventually the young receptionist (who was lovely and very helpful) put us in a Suite for the night until we could sort something out in the morning.
In the morning we saw another 3 rooms and in sheer desperation (and embarrassment) settled on one.
ALL rooms we saw were very dated and I would not think had any change made since the 70's! Even the suite, although large, was so old fashioned - even having a bath/shower/basin area open to the bedroom!
We have to say that all the reception staff were fantastic and extremely helpful and pleasant. However, they did say that for the price we were paying we were on a Basic room price??! At no time had Main Reservations told my husband of any options of rooms or quoted other prices?
The breakfasts were very good, buffet style with plenty of choice. The hotel is mainly used by the Spanish and I spoke with one lady from the UK who said that they had only found one other British couple there and the hotel was full! No problem for us obviouly but it may be difficult socializing if you speak no Spanish.
It is many, many years since we visited Aguadulce and we found nothing about the hotel or area that would make us want to return!

“Disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2009

We stayed at the Playadulce at the end of Jan/early Feb 09, for 2 weeks Half board.
The hotel was practically empty apart from weekends when some Spanish guests arrived. The area was pretty much closed up, there was no alternative eating places. The buffet meals were not of good quality, the choices were large but rather strange (rabbit stew / fish fingers on occassions) . The food quality was very poor and most dishes were greasy and tasteless. However there were salads and fresh grills available ( if you liked what was on offer). There were a few evenings when the choices were not to our taste and we ended up having bread or veg only. I also found a short hair in a piece of bread! The food improved at weekends when the Spanish guests were in.
The place was not just quiet - it was dead. There was live music for 2 hours on a Friday night.
The hotel itself was spacious but the decor needed refreshing - the settees in the lounge area were torn, worn and dirty.
It was a 15 minute walk to the local public bus service which ran every half hour and was very reasonable.
On the whole I do not know how this hotel is rated 4 star - We have stayed in better 2 star hotels.
We will not revisit.

Thanks to your comments, I am able to realize your perception of our PRODUCT and mostly important for us is the QUALITY and KINDNESS of the SERVICE.

Concerning your comments about the quality of the food, we would like to communicate, that for many years we pay the most attention to the quality of the products and their elaboration. Besides, we have place at the client’s disposal the “Show- Cooking”, but not the main menus. We offer a large variety of meat, fish and crêpes and have found here with a magnificent acceptance.
We apologise for your discontentedness with the quality of the meals in the most appreciated days of the year YOUR HOLIDAYS, but I guarantee you, that our kitchen staff is constantly improving and trying to satisfy the different tastes of our guests.

“Great, friendly place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2008

Just a quick review to say how great this hotel was. We travelled out of season expecting to find the place deserted but it wasn't. When we walked in we all felt that it was buzzing and had a very nice feeling about it. Ok - it's not the trendiest hotel in Spain, but it is very clean and welcoming.

We stayed on an All Inclusive basis and highly recommended this board if you are going on a short trip. Anything longer than 5 days may be too much as you over-eat, over-drink and laze around far too much. We went for a long weekend in November. The weather wasn't at it's best but the afternoons were spent on the balcony, looking at the lovely sea views from the 10th floor. The highest temperature must have been between 16 and 18 degrees. Very pleasant!

Much of the area was closed for the winter but there were some lovely walks along the sea promenade. The Gran Plaza shopping centre was about 10 mins drive away. Roquetas de Mar is only about 15 mins drive.

We loved Aguadulce, and we would certainly return to this hotel. We hired a car for the short time and it takes about 20 mins to get there from the airport.

All the staff were very friendly. No complaints at all except that the rooms will soon be needing some refurbishment. Food was excellent and they catered for everyone.

Any questions, then please email me!
