“Average suburban hotel with friendly staff but worn rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2010

The hotel is located a bit more than 10 minutes by subway from the central parts of Stockholm (or around 35 minutes away from Arlanda Airport). The location is inside a shopping mall so may be a bit tricky to find especially if arriving after closing hours (there is a button to push outside). Not a great location for tourists but if you have business in the area (or perhaps is visiting the football stadium) it is ok.

The hotel lobby is fairly nice and welcoming. I received very friendly service upon check in. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and also upgraded me to a superior room.

The room I got was fairly large with wood floors. It was however still not a very nice room. The furniture was definitely of the cheaper sort and the floor may have been nice at one point in time. The room was however clean so no complaints there. The bed was decent as well and large enough.

The desk was also large enough to work at but they do charge extra (rather expensive as well) for Internet access. I always find it extremely annoying to be charged for Internet access and this type of business hotel should of course not charge for it.

The bathroom seemed fairly recently renovated. There was a tub and they also provided a bathrobe. The room also had a mini-bar, safe, coffee & tea and iron and ironing board. Everything else in the room was fairly standard.

The breakfast was slightly above average with plenty of choices of both hot and cold food. Everything was a fairly low quality but it is the standard at most hotel breakfasts in these types of hotels. Still the amount of choices makes it slightly better than the average breakfast at a hotel in Sweden.

Beware that there may be a long line to check-out. The front desk was manned by 5 people when I was about to check-out but still had to wait more than 5 minutes which is not ok in my opinion. They should create some type of quick check-out for people who just have their room to pay for. All in all a decent hotel but will probably opt for something else next time.

“Tried it again - but will go back to Radisson Royal Park...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

First: if I was a tourist I would stay in Stockholm City.... This is outside the city, - so please be aware of that... Also, it is quite funny that the hotel itself is a on top of a mall, called "Solna center"... And that pretty much tells you the story of this suburb, - which it is!!! All you see around is heeps of blocks around, and before me (here I sit on the top of the Block of blocks) is a small park and the football stadium...

For the rest of you having to stay here for business reasons, or happened to be put here because you didn't know how far it was from downtowon; the hotel is ok. Is has been upgraded somewhat; the reception area is ok (once you find it inside the mall)... And the hotel restaurant has always had quite nice meals / wineselection and most of all: very good service!!!

BUT: the rooms are usually quite small and boring (no amenities even in Superior rooms like I am staying in now (unless you ask for Bathrobes & extras)... This time I asked for a larger room and actually got a quite normal / large size room: 1130 is the tip there... BUT, again: no extras in the room unless asked for (this was supposed to be a Superior Room)... Also they do have a minibar with about 4 white wines / sparkling wines + red wines, but no wine-glasses... Funny...

I have stayed a lot at Radisson Haga Royal Park (not far away), - and have to stay around Solna due to work, and must admit that I will return to the Royal Park, because it is somewhat cheaper (not so important since I'm not paying, but even though...) - it also overlooks a park and lake and is quiet and the front and related buildings are set in a more stately building (+whit newer additions that are hid), and the rooms are always large, the food is nice and most importantly; you are not put on top of a sad, outdated mall that you have to walk through to get out / in... So if you HAVE to stay the Solna area, stay at Radisson Haga Royal Park at Frøsundaviks allé!!! If not: go downtown!!!!

“Very bad service!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

We stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago. It seemed to be a good option. It has a metro station nearby, the hotel seemed fine and it has the particularity of being inside a shopping center. The first days run well, besides when we arrived there we had no extra bed for our daughter. They solved it. But since the beginning we noticed some disorganization. They said they were experiencing some problems. Apparently they had little staff. I don´t think this is an excuse for what happened. One night we arrived our room, and NOBODY had entered there. The beds weren´t made, the wet towels were on the floor, the floor wasn´t clean, the bathroom was all wet just like we left it... it was all a mess!!! We had to sleep in the undone beds, but we asked for new towels. On the other day we made a formal complaint (to which they don´t seem to be used to, because they looked at us in a bizarre way just because we were complaining...). And also we refused to pay one night. It´s important to say that we were never offered any kind of compensation. They were expecting us to pay for all nights and end of story. The recepcionist had to call her boss to know if she "should accept" what we were saying. And she was always with a very weird face, as if we had no right of saying we wouldn´t pay one night. And WE DIDND´T. After all we became very disapointed, because the hotel´s attitude was much worse than the room´s incident. They proved they don´t deserve to be a 4 star.

“Good hotel and good location for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2010

The hotel is located in a shopping centre with a food hall (lots of choice) and supermarket nearby. The hotel is just a 20 second stroll to the nearest underground line, with just 5 or so stops into central Stockholm - total time about 10mins.
We were surprised that this was part of the Radisson group and the hotel was modern, clean and generally good value for money. The room was spacious, nice tv, good decor and clean. Checkout time was 12 o clock. Staff were helpful and booked for us to go the Absolut Icebar on our stay. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, juices etc. Has a bar and an area to play video games, darts and guitar hero. Only drawback for the hotel is lack of air conditioning - which made the rooms incredibly hot in the 31 degress heat.

“Liked this place, especially the breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

we read the reviews so knew it was in a shopping centre & had a garage, we would have liked a bit of info from the hotel about getting there, rather than us having to rely on the reviews from here. We found it as it is a tall building with the name on top & stands out!! But without the advice here we would have been frantic & stressed - so thanks peeps!!

The staff were helpful, rooms were compact & no air con - but that seems to be the norm in Sweden:-(( In the main I am sure it isn't a problem but it was hot.

Solna isn't a bad place to base for the city as you are just a little way out on the Metro & the stop is right at the hotel/shopping centre. It cost's a little to use the metro but I think overall it could be a win win - cheaper hotel & little bit of travel V expensive hotel & maybe a long walk back.......

We went into the city the eve we arrived just to have a look & enjoyed ourselves & had a meal & came back - remember to check the metro line though as we ended on the wrong train & had to double back a stop or 2!! Stupid really it's not as if we have never used the London Underground!!!!

I mentioned breakfast...well of the hotels we used it was probably the best, lots of choice both of the usual continental stuff but also a good choice of fresh fruit.

We were coming back to Stockholm after our time in the mountains & decided to try again for Solna, but sadly it was sold out/full so we had to rethink & pay out more for the central hotel. Mixed feelings about that.

The shopping Centre was great to look round & familiarize ourselves with this new country........we had lunch on one of the booths when we arrived - pizza & a coke deal - good value for 2 to share @ 9SKR. we hadn't yet discovered HOW expensive eating out was over there! The supermarket was one of the best we saw & a very exciting deli counter.........shame we didn't get to shop there every day:-( However we bought a cold bag & a few picnic plates along with lunch for the journey which we had at one of the great roadside area.
