“Beautiful place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

First off I have to say this place is beautiful. It's out of a story book. Seeing the rolling hills of tuscany. Like being in a movie! Believe it or not we stayed here for 2 nights while "visiting florence" each day we drove into florence (30min drive) with a car and every day we looked forward to returning here and getting away from the hussle and bussle of the city. It's so serene. The hotel/villa is beautiful. Staff is very nice. The young gentlemen (cant recall his name - claudio? ) that did the wine tasting was wonderful. very helpful and extremely knowledge. Now the one negative. The bed. It's horrible. I think the floor would have been more comfortable. We called and asked if ALL beds were this stiff and or if they had different mattresses. They looked at us like we were crazy lol. Also our room was above the dinning hall so in the morning we would get woken up when they were setting up for breakfast. Other than that everything else was great. The rooms could use a modernization, however they were clean and thats all that matters. There were a lot of older couples (esp germans!) there. My girlfriend and I were definitely the youngest there. 30 & 40's

Room Tip: dont get a room above the dinning hall.

“Tuscany Retreat is a Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

From the moment we arrived by a regional bus from Florence (it dropped us off at the hotel driveway), my husband and I and another couple knew we had made a good choice. The hotel has several cozy sitting areas and fabulous views of the Tuscan countryside. Our corner room (and bath) was quite large (a nice change from the tiny rooms in Venice and Rome) and definitely worthy of a Conde Naste designation as a "Room With A View"! Our king bed was quite comfy. One oddity - the room temperature is controlled at the front desk. Even though it was too cold to swim in September, we enjoyed relaxing by the pool, mesmorized by the panoramic views and colorful sunsets. We enjoyed our leisurely dinners, especially the truffle pasta, parmegiano risotto, and the beef tenderloin fillet with a chianti reduction sauce. But best of all was the staff. Max made our stay memorable - he took care of us as if he were our own personal concierge. Upon arrival, we asked how to get to Panzano and he arranged for transportation to and from Panzano so we could visit the famous Dario's butcher shop and have lunch at his MacDario's rooftop restaurant - a side-trip we highly recommend. We also recommend taking the Tuscan Cooking Class at the hotel. Max and the chef, Paolo, gave us their whole attention as they introduced us to the workings of the hotel kitchen and the wonders of Tuscan cooking. After we helped prepare the food, they served us the multi-course meal, with appropriate wines, on the restaurant patio - what a perfect way to end our Tuscan adventure.

“Wonderful experience”

If you are traveling through Tarvarnelle, this is the place to stay. From the moment that we walked through the door we felt that we were the most important people in the world. The staff was friendly, helpful, and a joy to be around. They welcomed us with a taste of wine from the area, and built a fire for us to sit around to enjoy it. The food is prepared fresh, and the chef came out to talk to us. Our waiter, was a lot of fun and helped us with our choices, he had a great sense of humor. I would recommend this place to everyone.
So a special thanks to our chef, Alessio, the reception, Niccolo, our waiter Claudio, and to the food manager, Massimiliano you have made our stay unforgettable.

The view from our hotel looked out to San Gimignano. We had a fantastic visit with great staff, perfect views, friendly staff and very convenient. We walked into town a couple times and had a great experience there too. Highly recommend this location for anyone wanting a great experience in Tuscany.

Room Tip: 2nd floor has a great view.

“lovely place, lovely staff. Perfect holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

We have been in Tuscany for the 2nd time, the hotel is in a perfect location between Siena, Firenze and San Gimignano. The room was perfect, and we had a lovely view from our big terrace. The food is good, the wines are perfect, try out with Massimo, he will give you a wine tasting where you can 't refuse him to buy wines from the Chianti at honest prices.
We had a lovely holiday and will definitely go back. We travel a lot over the world, and when you are in Tuscany just make sure you go there. The only thing for imporvement (we mentioned also to them) was the cold swimming pool. Perhaps next time they will have done something about that. It was really too cold .

Room Tip: Junior suite 223 is perfect !!!!
