We stay at the Capofaro Resort on the island of Salina in June 2011. We had a taxi take us to the hotel on the day we arrived. We were greeted by the friendly staff. There are one story bungalows on this property. The room was spacious with a shower. All the bungalows have a full view of the islands and the ocean. The landscaping on this property is picture perfect . Nothing is overlooked. There is a large room with a fireplace to read, use the computer or meet-up with friends. There is a large pool with plenty of lounge chairs. There is another area on the grass with lounge chairs and there is plenty of privacy at this resort. The restaurant is outdoors and the food was great for breadfast and dinner. There is a bus at the main road that will take you into town. It is a 2 minute walk and cost about 2euros.

I don't know what else can be said about Capofaro We just spent 4 days of our honeymoon here and were actually bummed to leave to go to Sicily! While the natural setting of place is phenomenal, the level of hospitality and quality of food was top notch. From the always accomodating reception staff to the knowledeable, non-intrusive restaurant staff, we were blown away by the quality of service. As we are both foodies, we were very impressed with the food along with the attention to detail during our meals. I'll have to admit some of the reviews had us a bit concerned regarding the food/price, but I can assure you that the food was some of the best we had in our 10 days in Sicily. On one occasion, we had dinner in a nearby town (recommended by one of our waiters) which was good but non way near the experiences we had at Capofaro. One other thing to keep in mind. We are big breakfast people and the Italians are not. However, the breakfast at Capafaro (which is included as customary in Italy) were fantastic with al la carte options available like omelletes fresh squeezed orange Juice, etc. We also took advantage of wine tasting with Corrado, the father of their famous Malvasia wine. What an experience that was! Anyway, if you're looking for a place to get away from everything in a stunning landscape with excellent food and service, Capofaro is highly recommended.

We spent 3 nights of our honeymoon at Capofaro. The resort sits along the water between the comunis of Santa Marina and Malfa and that is what makes it special. It truly is one of those resorts you see featured in a travel magazine and think, 'it must feel you have your own corner of the world there". You do. A mountain rises to the rear of the resort. You have a beautiful, serene view of both Panarea and Stromboli, and endless sea. The resort is a living vineyard and the grounds are lush with gorgeous flowers. We went into both Santa Marina and Malfa and was a few of the other hotels on Salina's list here. They are in the middle of town. You do not have your own corner of the world at the hotels. To me, the other hotels do not compare to Capofaro.

The service was excellent, 5 star. The people at Capofaro got to know us and fulfilled every request we made. They made us feel special. The food was delicious. We ate most of our meals at Capofaro's restaraunt. It was terrific. The rooms are unique and very nice. The grounds were very well kept and everything was clean.

We plan on going back to celebrate our anniversary. We can't wait.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Sicily. We were married in Umbria, and after an amazing week with family and friends, the paradise we found at Capofaro is just what we needed. Pictures simply cannot capture the extraordinary beauty of Capofaro. I travel regularly and am not one to be easily impressed; but I was more than impressed at Capofaro. Not only was the setting idyllic, the level or service was extraordinary! And in contrast to what others reported about the restaurant, we found the restaurant to be exceptional five star dining which also served an elegant breakfast. At night, it was extremely romantic and particularly beautiful the way it was all lit up. Our suite was spacious and very comfortable and we loved our enormous terrace with its stunning views. From what we could tell, all rooms had wonderful sea views. The pool was also beautiful and extremely peaceful. We loved our day relaxing by it! While the property is isolated, this is what makes it so special and unique! It is the perfect place if you want to do absolutely nothing but eat wonderful food and relax in an extraordinarily beautiful setting; however, you also have easy access to transportation to other parts of the island and to the port if you wish to explore the other islands. We actually took the bus to the town of Malfa; the bus picks you up on the road right in front of the hotel. While in Malfa, we checked out some of the other hotels rated on Tripadvisor higher than Capofaro. After seeing the other properties and having an amazing experience at Capofaro, we truly were dumbfounded about why Capofaro is not rated #1. The beauty of the property alone far outshines the other hotels! And again the service is impeccable! We recognize that we were not staying at the property during high season; given however, that there are only 20 rooms, even if fully occupied we felt that the sprawling nature of the rooms/suites would always provide a unique and private stay and again, the service was second to none. We most definitely will return to Capofaro, despite the long distance from Chicago, and have already highly recommended it to family and friends! If you are considering a trip to Salina or its neighboring islands, I highly recommend you stay at Capofaro - you will not regret it!
