I'm sorry but you really need to ignore the Cruise Shippers complaining about "gritty" Ercolano. This is a working town with incredible ruins underneath. This hotel looks like it was built in the Napoleonic age - huge gardens - grand vistas - incredible marble fountains - all in various stages of past glory - extremely charming. The location is great - 100 meters up the hill from the entrance to the Herculaneum excavations. They have free parking inside their walls behind the gardens. Staff were great, rooms a bit small but nicely appointed and everything worked. I can recommend this hotel highly but it's not an American Hilton, it's a fine old gracefully aging European grand hotel.

Arrived with 5 others at Naples Airport and drove (hire car) directly here. Unfortunately I followed the signs to the back entrance, but on safely parking had a pleasant walk through the large gardens.

Our rooms were ready, clean and very pleasant, all with views, either of the bay or Vesuvius. We had 3 rooms all twins with ample space an lovely firm beds. I chose this hotel due to its proximately to the ancient site of Herculaneum (buried in lava AD79) and as promised it was a short stroll away.

As we had caught a very early flight we decided to eat in the hotel which is something I rarely do as I prefer to eat out locally. The hotel was also holding a wedding so we thought our food might be a bit of a mish mash but no it was not. We had the set menu which was very good, a seafood pasta and delicious lamb for me.

So if you want a hotel, a short train ride from Naples, on the door step of Herculaneum with good food and tranquil gardens. Try this one.

Lovely hotel , but very poor service, very limited menu. we checked out early and found a hotel in sorrento which was far superior

If you want to see Ercolano archeological park, no doubt this is the place to stay.The gardens and the hotel are beautiful. The pool was under renovation but nearly complete.Our room facing the garden was bright,spacious and clean. Hotel and Restaurant staff friendly and obliging but Management lacks initiative.

Ercolano town is reminiscence of Mumbai and you do not feel that you are in EU! The traffic during peak time was very chaotic as they had switched off all traffic lights, for days apparently due to power shortage. The streets are narrower than in Zanzibar! Hey, but you are in Italy, for the sights,people and food and keep coming back!

Cannot fault the hotel, specially if you manage to get a good Last Minute special rate..Breakfast is excellent and Restaurtant food pretty good.
Management is a bit slack - there is space, at the Front Door but they did not bother to open up the rope for us to make it easier to off load luggage from the car. Told us there is Parking at the rear but signs are so poor and difficult to find the right gate to get in with crazy traffic late evening when we arrived. Once parked, we had literally to jump temporary Builders fence due to reconstruction of the pool area, dragging behind our suitcases.
