It is depend on your luck...it either hit or miss, and depend on the season you 're going, if it's busy then you're out of luck.
We just went for the beach, and it is the best.
if you like seafood, Fresh shrimps, fresh fish, not the one frozen like here in canada ,the taste is different.
but be aware of the buffets, try to line up for the fresh cook one. it wasnt long wait, to me , you're on a vacation. what's the rush?
try to look for fresh food, because i seen some of the "recycled" from the morning , they just add ham to the french toast to make a new one.
I have to complaint about the plates, very dirty, each time went for the buffet , check out 5 of them , and they are the same, so i use napkins to clean it first , i think they hand washed the dishes.
The Hotel Manager should pay attention to this
Luch at the "Ranchon" have lots of flies there, they should have something to cover it, this is a health and safety issues. one of the server at the grill chicken, used his hand to pick french fries and chicken for us, it is digusting when they use their hand to handle food .
a couple of time, at the beach bar and snack bar, they use the tongs to pick up the straw, when they prepare drink for me. That was very nice. but at the lobby you would never see this thing, i understand they 'ret too busy to use the tongs.
Tip are expected , especially at the lobby bar, you have to flash your dollars, then they 'll pay attention to you, one of the bartender was there ,when i order 4 drinks ,he made me 3 and told me that this is the tequila sunrise , i look at the color, and ik new it is not. just becasue i gave 1 Cuc tip, he 's expecting 1 Cuc for each drinks. ( remember 1 Cuc = 25 pesos, their money).
I like to give tip , but i expect give me the service first then i will tip, i dont like the demanding, but yet some of the ladies at the buffet are very nice, they service with a smile .
I enjoy the night entertainment, we happened to run into 2 girls , look the picture with them, and give them 10 CuC, they were very happy,
we gave 200$ in a week,(3 of us) and please do give those Hobbie cat driver tip, as they worked very hard , they dont get pay by the hotel, they work for cuba marine for something like that, the guy does not speak good english told us. I've seen most of the people from Argentina ,go on the Hobbie cat and dont even give a cent.
if you get there at night, call the goft cart to take you to your room ,becasue there is noway you can find your room at night time, we brought flashlight, oneday we helped some guest to find their room at 11 pm
