“Second visit - just as good as the first”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

We love this hotel. This time we treated ourselves to a Superior Room at 110 euros per night but well worth it for the views from the balcony alone - magnificent. Ask for room 31 - you get balcony on two aspects and so you get the sun well into the evening. The staff are very friendly. There is a good parking area and the gardens are lovely. The hotel has a semi rustic feel and is situated right in the middle of the lovely village with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Walking and canyon based activities are fantastic. If you visit Asque, a four kilometer hike up and down mountains, be sure to stop by at the little pub inthe village and take your swimming stuff as it has a delightful small pool. The young woman serving here is very friendly and makes you feel right at home - you can swim without being on eof the guests in the tavern.

Our only faults with the hotel would be no Wi-Fi in the room and breakfast. Breakfast is set out early and we weren't keen on the food standing there an hour or more before we wanted to eat. Also, the 'bread' choice changes daily and if you're not keen on eating cake for breakfast you're stuck. We were there five days and croissants appeared on only one day. The only freshly prepared stuff is tea, coffee and toast.

“Fabulous place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

A beautiful little village and a wonderful hotel. We were given a large room with a balcony and view of the Colegiata de Santa Maria. Breakfast was included in the reasonable rate.

“Stunning views in the heart of historic Moorish hill town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

A lovely modern hotel in traditional style in the heart of a lovely hillside town, we chose an upgraded room and the fantastic view from the balcony was well worth the extra cost. Breakfast offered a wide choice of continental fare laid out on individual tables. Very comfortable hotel with traditional features and artifacts. On site parking a bonus. Lovely walks exploring the town and the gorge - activity sports were offered from the town.

“Nice hotel but a bit too expensive”

Walked in with no reservation and got a (probably only available) 'special' room on the top floor with a balcony for 110EUR including breakfast and parking. The room was spacious (but not huge) and very tastefully appointed. Could not get a good view of the Collegiata because of the roofs - if you want the best views, ask for the rightmost room 31. Free WiFi was only available downstairs. The breakfast was very good but pre-served on the table with a limited choice of foods.
The worst part was getting some sleep at night - you kind of have to keep the balcony door open to get some air and first there was someone loudly talking somewhere and then around 4-5AM we were woken up by some strange noises as if somebody was moving heavy furniture upstairs except there was no upstairs - just the roof! When the noises would not stop for quite a while I walked out on the balcony and yelled in Spanish at whoever/whatever was making the noise that I can't sleep. Immediately afterwards the noise stopped.

“A lovely hotel in a fairytale village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2010

Alquezar is a little off the beaten track. We were driving across the Pyrenees over the space of a week and were attracted to visiting Alquezar because of the reviews. On arrival, it was notable to see a lot of activities geared towards caving, trekking and mountain biking - we were purely there to relax and soak in the beautiful countryside.

On arrival to Alquezar, ignore the sign for the village visitors' car park and drive into the village. After you drive through the main strip of cafes, restaurants and the tourist information centre, the path narrows and winds up hill. There is a fork in the road at this point. If you bear right, you will reach the front entrance of the hotel on the left in under a hundred metres. If you bear left, you continue up the hill until you reach the hotel car park on the right - go this way.

Check-in was easy. Lift access to the rooms is via the car park. The room was dark and airy with a large bathroom and an "Austrian Twin" bed that was a little lumpy. We had a second floor room with a balcony. The third floor rooms have the best views (for an extra charge). The wifi signal does not carry to the room so we accessed it from the cafe next to reception.

Breakfast was served at the table and was extensive, if uninventive.

We were looked after during our overnight stay, the hotel represented excellent value and we would like to come here again.

There are numerous eateries in the village to suit all budgets
