I´ve found an excellend motorway hotel chain
in Spain. It´s called Ashoteles. BEST value for money
you can get. FREE parking for your car, individual garage,Air con, Wireless Internet connection, exterior playground for kids, HUGE breakfast, very close to Barcelona city cenntre. Only 15 min by car.
We´ve been there last summer and we explored the city
with no need to use the car at all. we left it parked at the hotel and used the shuttle bus of the hotel to go to city.
I highly recommend this option. Great rates all year round!

I found this hotel on the Expedia website and as it was cheaper than many of the others we decided to stay here. I should have wondered when there were no clear directions to the hotel by metro. Upon arriving at the nearest tube station to the hotel, we found that our hotel was a 10 minute cab ride away, and there was no public transport! So if you don't have a car, the only way from the nearest station to the hotel was by taxi. Each ride cost around 10 euro. Do that twice a day, and you need to add another 20 euros per day to the cost of your room. As well as that, on many occasions we got to the station late at night after a long day in Barcelona to find no taxis there and so had to ring the hotel to ask them to call a taxi to pick us up. We spent many a hour sitting in the gutter waiting for a taxi to come and pick us up. The hotel would call us a taxi in the morning when we wanted to go to the station, but on a few occasions we waited for up to an hour. This hotel was one big hassle. Although the room was very nice, for another 20 euros per day I would rather stay somewhere more central that at least has access to public transportation. Give it a miss.

We spent one night there, coming back from vacation, driving all the way from Madrid to Geneva. WE had a very nice rest, jumping in the sswimmingpool, and slept vera well. Only - was the restaurant at night, excellent service, not vera excellent food.
