“Mixed Feelings about I Laricci”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2009

We stayed at I Laricci in June 2007. As previously mentioned in earlier posting, the parking was very difficult due to low concrete wall hidden by bushes, unfortunately we did scrape the hire car as we arrived which wasn't a good start. The villa was reasonably furnished but we did find it very uncomfortable to stay in for long periods of time (due to several very bad storms whilst we were there). The main bedroom was comfortable and apart from having a look upstairs didn't venture up again! It was a remote and lovely scenic place, but be warned about the church bells (unless they have stopped them!) They ring every, hour, half hour, and it seems randomly - drove us mad.
The pool was rather tatty but may well have had some maintenance on it by now. We had to ask for sun loungers which they got us very quickly. The villa and gardens were kept nicely cleaned, and the bed linen was good. Very quirky 70's decor - loved the garish bathroom! I swam in the nearest bay past Sisco and picked up a nasty tummy bug. We thought Corsica was wonderful and will go back sometime, but not to I Larrici!

“Excellent, shame about the parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2008

We spent the first two weeks September at the villa and would totally agree with the last review, almost word for word.

However, we would add about the on-parking difficulties: You are allocated a standard size parking space, but surrounded on the two sides by a low concrete wall, which in itself is OK but then you have to be careful of a concrete projection on the passenger sides as the parking space is entered. And then to complicate matters the parking space has to be entered at a slight angle before straightening up. We managed without any scrapes (I think...) but it is virtually impossible to enter at night (virtually preventing us from going out at night), and you will need guidance to exit at all other times.

I mentionned this to the holiday rep, and she mentionned that several others have mentionned the same experience.

This might seem a trival matter, but once you park here you will quickly realise otherwise...

“Nice little villa tucked away in the hills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2008

We stayed in this little villa for a week in August. If you don't do heat, don't do Corsica in August - it was 32 degrees every day, but the great thing about a villa in the hills is that you can get into the shade, escape the heat and sit around your pool. It's a nice little villa, very private, despite the closeness of the neighbours (you share a drive - but wouldn't know they're there). It is however a small villa - it has two bedrooms but one is up a slightly odd winding wooden staircase and would be extremely hot (no aircon at the villa but that doesn't matter downstairs) so we never went up there at all. So it's great for a couple, but I doubt would suit a family. The property could do with a little bit of updating decor wise, in which case it would be fantasttic, but we had no complaints. And you need to like it remote too - the tiny village is a 10 minute drive up a winding hillside road and there are no restaurants or bars handy - so we bought in food and cooked every evening. But if you know what you're getting ( a little retreat, far from the bustle of the island's busier resorts), then this is a good place to go. The views are great, down the valley and across the sea, and when it's really clear you can see the shadows of some of the islands off the coast of Italy.

  • Liked — the seclusion, the views, the quiet
  • Disliked — needs a bit of updating on the decor front
