“Tired but Friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The hotel has had some updating to the rooms. There are 10 rooms to the hotel which vary in size decor and standard. 1,2,3,5 are the best rooms. The others are funtionable though small. The biggest two complaints are that there is no internet or very limited, the showers are a joke, you have to run around to get wet! The water pressure is none existant. I have suggested they seriously need to spend money and fix the boiler or replace the existing hot water system. Room 7 the extract fan runs for 40 minutes when started noisy impeads sleep.

The main rooms downstairs are tired and need revamping with decor looking shabby in some areas. Parking is also an issue as it is limited and right opposite the train station.

The food is a little revelation as it is quite good and what they do it is done well. Though they don't cater for special dietry needs. The staff are friendly and are happy to do what they can. The hotel is overlooked by a quaint clock tower that although to a tourist may be quite a novelty, it chimes and ring all the time on the hour not funny at 12 o clock. midnight.

Room Tip: 1, 2, 3, 5 are the best rooms as the water pressure is marginally higher.

“Don't inform you of anything”

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night in November 2011 and were not told where to book in, when breakfast would be, that we had to pay extra for breakfast, when to check out, how to get in the hotel when the pub was shut (which it was when we returned)!! Room was fairly nice and Todmorden was great - especially the people :0) As for the hotel, food was average and not much of an atmosphere. I did fid the staff unhelpful especially the manager! :0/ Don't usually write reviews but thought I better had in this case so others know.

“Homely Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Stayed here with a Groupon offer & would stay here again. Nice pub, lovely meals & great big hotel room. Not an awful lot in the surrounding area & would appeal to those who like walking/rambling etc. Right next to the train station & if I were to stay here again I'd get the train as parking in the surrounding area was terrible.

“Friendly and unpretentious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We were very pleasantly surprised by this pub/hotel, which is very unassuming on the outside but is warm, clean and friendly on the inside. Our room was small but I think had just been re-modernised, so was very fresh and attractive, including the bathroom. The food again was unprentious but was of good quality and well-prepared. The hotel is well situated in the centre of Todmorden, handy for the local markets and a lovely canal walk to Hebden Bridge (9 very flat miles there and back). Good value and definitely recommended - we hope to re-visit in the summer.

“Average Hotel - Reasonable room”

Stayed here as part of the groupon deal, the hotel is ok, it's not bad but not great. Its usually priced at around £60 a night from what i can gather, which is fine, whoever put it on groupon at £135 is living in a dream world! It is actually really misleading.

The food is the usual 'pub grub' style, steak etc. The room was small but nicely decorated and clean, the shower however (room2) was pathetic! Parking was also an issue with the hotel being situated near the station (we arrived Friday evening) and couldn't park straight away.

Overall the hotel is perfectly adequate as a stopover e.g if you are travelling somewhere (which luckily we were) I wouldn't advise going out of your way to visit though as it may lead to disappointment.

Todmorden itself is ok, though it has no real restaurants to speak of. There are a few nice independent coffee shops and pubs dotted around which are worth a look.
