I stayed in this hotel because I had a meeting in downtown Rio. This hotel was close to work (walking distance) and to Santos Dumond Airport. I would only sleep for one night, nohing else, and my flight back was schedule to take off very very early next morning. Also, the Holiday Inn Santos Dumond was fulled booked...

Pros: location, it´s clean, hot water, air conditioning, the bed looks clean enough, clean towels, the hotel looks safe. The area has lots of bars and restaurants close, but, like any other place, if you are arriving late you better take a taxi.

Cons: old building, old rooms, no decoration, it smells like old carpet everywhere, altough it only has carpets in the hall, not in the rooms!

Well, I am very alergic and the smell of old things, mold, etc, is a very big deal for me! Also, for the price, I think you can do better.

BUT, if the other good hotels in downtown area are fully booked, AND you are only staying for one night, you NEED a place close to this airport and to work, OR you are very very easy going, I believe you can stay here.

For a first time visiter to rio i don't known what to expect from the hotel,but it was very nice,clean and the staff friendly and helpul.The downtown locale was great for public transporation.

The itajuba has a very nice atmosphere. Nothing fancy - just comfortable and away from the Copacabana scene. Staff is friendly, personable and knows who you are.
