Got back a few days ago from a week at the Debbie Xenia, below is what we as a group thought.
First View - On arriving at the hotel and having our first look around we found it is quite dated and perhaps a lick of paint etc is needed, however for the price we paid this isn't really a big deal!
The Staff - All the staff were great. We arrived at around 3am in the morning and the young lad on reception (always the same one at night) was more than helpful and even opened the bar so we could have a drink or two!, If you like your spirits then he is the guy to go to as he gives you way over top measures!
The Room - The room was clean but again like the outside of hotel it was a little dated. Beds were quite comfy, bathroom was a decent size (although no lock on door), living area was decent and balcony was big with a nice sea view(ish). We must point out that the railings on the balcony were a little shaky and perhaps not the safest.
Appliances etc - This was one of the things that we found a little poor, we appreciate it is a self catering apartment but having to rent kettles, toasters, microwaves etc is not really acceptable (In our opinion) and this is the first self catering apartment any of us have ever stayed in that has asked us to do so!
Pool Area - Was clean and was nice to chill out by during the hot days.
The Food - Very basic, get what you pay for sort of thing!, If a burger and chips is only 4.50 euros then you don't expect a 5 star meal!!.....we only had the food twice and found it acceptable.
Location -The hotel is in an area called Pernera, which is a quiet area with a handful of bars and restaurants, it is perfect for couples and families.....As a group of friends however we felt a little out of place. However as the area is a 25 min walk away from Protaras centre (6 euros in taxi) and a 20 min taxi from Ayia Napa (10-12 euros) we still found plenty of things to do!.....Both of those areas can be accessed by bus at only 1 euro.
Restaurants - The best we found near the hotel were Bennigans (like an Irish version of TGI Fridays) which does all your pub classics and Il Cavaliere which is a nice Italian. Both of which were reasonably priced.
Two we found to avoid were the Chinese buffet which offers a very poor selection and Speedy Gonzales which is a Mexican (in case you couldn't tell by the name!) as the food there is terrible and the service is poor!
Bars/Pubs - The only two places in the area with a bit of life are Knights Pub and the Windmill Bar. Prices for a pint are between 2 -3 euros. We found it better to eat in Pernera and then head to Protaras centre for drinks as the choice of bars there was a lot better and a lot more going on.
Best things to do - One of the days we went over to Waterworld Water Park in Ayia Napa which we found to be the best day of our holiday!, you can get there by bus which only costs 1 euro and although the park itself is very expensive (33 euros adults, 19 euros children) the slides etc more than make up for it!!
Other than that we you can do all sorts of water sports around the area such as hire speed boats, jet skis etc etc etc!!
Overall we enjoyed our stay/holiday and if you are a family or couple it is worth checking out the Debbie Xenia :)
Room Tip: Ask for 3rd floor as get a view over to sea.
