“Perfect Location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

Hotel was at a perfect location, just 5 minutes from Fig Tree Bay and in the centre of Protaras. In general the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly.
However, the bathroom was smelling bad the first day and they have changed the bathroom towels only once in a week.

“Very good location, clean with friendly & helpful staff”

All in all we had a very nice stay and all of us enjoyed the vacation and can recommend a stay.

The staff at Alva Hotell was very friendly and helpful and we had a very nice stay. The reception staff spoke very good English and were very helpful. They were very service minded and helped out with bookings, mailing, etc. The cleaning of the rooms was excellent and they had tided everything. Put shoes in order decorated the beds and put the kids things in order. The food and service in the restaurants was simple but good and the restaurant and bar service was good.

We got a 2 room apartment. in building 2 (Not the rception building) The apartment size was good. One bedroom and one living area with TV and cooking facilities and a fridge. A small bathroom and a small balcony. Everything was functional and in line with what can be expected of this class of hotel in the area. The apartments and the Hotel feels a bit old and worn and in need of some renovation especially the bathroom. If you dont mind to much about this and can get a decent room price then it is ok. The apartments were best suited for 2 persons. The extra beds for the kids was a very simple bedsofa that was not good enough for a teenager and a weeks stay and a classical steel retractable extra bed which was ok. We got a small discount from the travel agency for the extra bed but paid for 3 adults and a kid and the rooms work probaly best with smaller kids or for couples. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the pool area. The pool was a bit old ok but not great. There was enough sunbeds but some matresses felt a bit unfresh and probably in need of more regular cleaning or to be switched out..The airconditioning unit in our apartment was very effective but placed so it blew right on to us when sleeping which creates the classical need to put it on a and of several times in the night (Using the various functions helped a little but not enough)

The location was very good with the best beach in short walking distance. (Very few hotels were directly on the beach). It was right on the pedestrian area bit still pretty quiet not any disturbing sounds from the town during the evening and night. All in all a very good location in Protaras.

We were mostly happy with the location and the services and least satisfied with the function of the bedsofa.

“Great location and value for money.”

The Alva was exactly what we wanted and probably exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a studio apartment which was surpisingly large with a well equipped kitchen (including fridge/freezer, hob, microwave and all the neccessary cutlery). The room was cleaned regularly and clean towels were provided. There was even a TV (although most channels were greek!).

The pool area was nice enough- nothing very fancy- but large and had comfy sunbeds (although you did have to move if you wanted to stay in the sun all day).

The best thing about the Alva is it's location. Literally 2 mins away from Fig Tree Bay which is the most gorgeous beach. It is also very close to the bars and restraunts although thankfully not affected by any of the noise. There is also very conveniently a bus stop just across the road that makes it really easy to head out (and back) to Ayia Napa for only 1 Euro so no need to bother with taxis (unless you plan on coming home after 4).

Protaras itself it a beautiful resort and one which is thankfully not totally spoiled by the drinking 'lads' on tour (as is Ayia Napa).

I thoroughly recommend these apartments to families and couples alike.

“Excellent value for money”

Arrived at the Alva on 15 June for two weeks. First impresions of the reception were good, it is very modern and makes the alva ( Actually a 3*) Look like the entrance to a much more exspensive hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpfull. There are lifts and stairs to all floors. We had a studio apartment, which was HUGE!! and very well equiped with a recently re vamped kitchen area. The rest of the room was spotless. Our balcony over looked the pool, and had a sea view. Fig tree bay is less than a 5 minute walk and has a very nice beach (Very crowded on Saturday/Sunday) The Alva is on the main strip so very close to all the bars and shops. But we found that it was just far enough away so you don't get the noise at night. If I had to fault one thing, It would be the pool. It is perfectly fine, But just not as nice as other Hotels that we have been to. Although Not off putting at all ( Comfy sunbeds though)
Over all I would recommend This Hotel to anyone. Good experience. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Couples: Get a studio. Ask for Side seaview

“FANTASTIC LOCATION, GREAT FACILITIES, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF”

My fiance and I have just returned from a week at The Alva Hotel Apartments and we loved it. The location was great, just across road from beach, shops nearby, great bars and restaurants nearby and only 45 mins from airport. The apartments were spacious and clean and with great facilities, fridge, toaster, microwave, proper kettle etc...far more than we needed as we ate out every night but was useful for snacks and morning drinks.
The staff were efficient and friendly and even brought your drinks to your pool side sun lounger. We are getting married in Protaras next year and all the staff were helpful with our queries. We hope we can get booked in there next year too.
