“Great staff at this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We were looking for a cheap 2nd holiday as a surprise present for our 2 little boys (4&5), and had read the reviews and wondered if I was doing the right thing. Thankfully the decision was a good one as the stay exceeded my expectations. We arrived late in the night, due to a flight delay, and were greeted by the night porter who checked us in quickly and directed us to our room. The staff are brilliant! They really make this hotel. My youngest son in particular was doted upon by a number of the staff (Julia, Kelly), and joined in with the kids' disco. We also signed them up for the First Choice run kids club, which the youngest eventually attended and enjoyed thoughly. The rooms could benefit from a refurb, but where clean and had all the things you normally expect to get (kettle, toaster). Beds are comfortable, the air con in our room was able to keep the whole room cool. Our room overlooked the car park - perhaps not the best view, but you could see a pretty church on a nearby hill, which was lit up at night. The food was surprisingly good, with something for everyone. The cypriot food was lovely, would have liked to have seen more. We booked half board, but upgraded to all inclusive after a couple of days, which helped with all the ice creams and cokes little boys can consume.
The pool did cause some discolouration to the kids swim suits, but this didn't affect the holiday. The pools were rather cold when we stayed (early oct 2011), but the sun terrace is large, meaning your sun lounger wasn't on top of your neighbours one, and no need to reserve one, which made the stay more relaxing. You can also make use of the facilities in the ajoining Tscokkos hotels.

Cons: Noisey karoke bar at the front made it a little difficult to sleep with Freddie Mercury blasting out. Room decor and pool side [some broken tiles, broken bridge] need attention.

Pros: Julia, Patricia, Emma, Matty, Danny, Kelly, Sam, Polly Pocket & Stacy. Special mention to the chef who took it upon him self to personally serve my 4 year old with food :)

Room Tip: Pool side may give a sea view if on top floor.

“"Wedding Party!"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

I recently got married in Cyprus and 12 of our guests stayed here. It was the best 2 weeks ever! The hotel itself is a typical 3* and served its purpose however the staff I would rate 5*. From the reception (Stacey & Nelly), restaurant (Julia & Patricia) ,bar (Matty, Emma & Lloyd), maids, entertainers (Danny & Kelly) and First Choice rep (Craig). Everybody was so friendly and helpful and really made the holiday memorable.
The rooms were spacious (we stayed in a 1 bed apt) and even though the air con was only in the bedroom, if the door was kept open it cooled the whole apartment. To begin with we were a little dissapointed that we didn't have a pool view however within 2 days of the holiday we weren't fussed as we didn't really spend much time there. The decor was a bit dated but again it didn't matter. If we wanted to spend all our time in the room we would have booked 4 or 5*.
The food was good, plenty of choice and something different each night. Again I have had better but that was staying in 4 or 5* hotels and for a 3* I thought that the food was very good.
Drinks prices were reasonable although a lot cheaper if you went out into Protaras where all the bars are competing but thats normal.
The pools were good although a lot colder than the sea :) Yes, the chemicals did turn the costumes a little greeny in colour but it didn't spoil the holiday. There was no need to buy inflatables for the pool as many people leave them when they go home. You could always get a sunbed no matter what time of the day. The entertainers weren't too pushy if you didn't want to join in actvities and just sunbathe unlike some places I've been. It was great as you had plenty of stuff going on if you wanted it.
There is a little beach (rocky) 2 minutes walk from the hotel where you are able to do watersports. There are a few shops and bars within a stones throw of the hotel. It is a lovely 15-20 minute walk along the boardwalk into Protaras where they are many bars, shops and restaurants. It took only 30 minutes to walk to Fig Tree Bay which was stunning and well worth a visit. Taxi's were easy to find if you didn't fancy walking and the buses were frequent and very cheap.
All in all we had a thoroughly great holiday and can't wait to go back to celebrate our wedding anniversarys!

Room Tip: If you would like a pool and sea view room, request one before arrival at the hotel and they do thei...

“The best thing about this hotel is the location! The rest is poor!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

The location is great, 2 mins from shops, bars and the beach. 15 mins walk into town but a really lovely walk couldn't be in a better location but sadly that's where the story ends because the rest is.. (i am trying desperately to think of putting this nicely) poor. Never ever again!! Actually to be fair the cleaners where lovely ladies who work hard to clean our room daily (although on the first night i found two lower body hairs in my bed) but apart from that the rest of our stay the room was cleaned to perfection. The hotel is dated im guessing at least 30 plus years old and the furniture, beds etc show it. We opted for self catering and with just one ring to cook on there was no option but to eat out which was a blessing for me....The staff were ok. If you have young children i do not recommened you stay here as the entertainment was deafening...I do not mind what time people stay up to and watch whats going on,they should stay up as late as possible, they are on holiday after all, but the volume is so high that it was like going to bed in Wembeley Arena, it was truely that bad and if you dare tell any member of staff about it (hotel manager or entertainers(the woman) they wash their hands with you and blank you or give you horrid looks for the rest of your stay .........Don't ask for anyone to agree with you or tell you they will look into it, or get it resolved they just want a arguement about it...You could close all your windows and put the so called air con on to drown the noise, but it doesn't agree with me i like to have fresh air (was i asking to much?) Seriously if you have worked hard all year, saved your money and looking forward to a nice holiday abroad, run a million miles from this place especially if you have young kids.

Room Tip: a good room can be found away from this place

“Nice hotel”

It is really nice place to stay. You have nice pool area with bar, where you can buy food and drinks. Rooms were quite big and were cleaned everyday. Staff was very frinedly and you have few pubs just at the corner, but we felt their were more expensive than those in protaras. I was there with my friends and we felt that the area was very quiet and beach wasn't great, hotel is about 20 min walk from main protaras as it is in paralimni. we have got bus few days and went to nissi beach which is magnificent. Cyprus us great fun and food.
