I came back on the 16th October 2011, having spent a week at the Vangelis Apartments.
I cannot fault these apartments, they are very clean, and although some say the beds were too hard, i suffer with back problems so found them very suitable.
I stayed in Block A, overlooking the sea.
My only complaint was that it was fairly noisy at night and often the music did not stop until about 1.30am.
These apartments are central to everything.
I stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, and thought the breakfasts were very good, plenty of choice.
Full english was very nice.
I did not sample the food served in the evening, but it seemed they had good choice, Saturday is a BBQ night and they do a carvery on Sundays.
I would love to stay in Proteras again one day, and would be more than happy to stay at the Vangelis
Apartments again, just maybe in a quieter block next time.

This hotel consists of 4 blocks. Block B is away from the main facilities, Block A is next to the main road, Block C a little remote but near the pool and block D next to the pool near all facilities. So unless you know where you can stay, then you are for a bad stay. We liked Block D and we paid extra to stay there when we arrived to the hotel, as we were placed in block B, inland view, which finally means no pool view.
The manager was just like an automated machine and heartless, but the staff was friendly.
The food was very poor in varieties and in quality.
The position of the hotel is in the center of Protaras and thats a big plus, but this plus comes with the noise of the night life.
I will stay there again only if it is my only choice available, sorry.

My wife and I stayed 8th - 125th Oct 2011 on AI basis.
Rooms of reasonable standard although getting a little 'tired' in appearance especially the bathroom. Never the less very clean and tidy with exellent maid service.
Food VERY english as were 90% of guests, varied menu with 5/6 choices plus salads etc at Dinner. I would describe all the food/meals as very wholesome and very edible but not 'cordon bleu'. It certainly suited us.
Bar service was OK, local beers etc not good, don't ask for cocktails- very hit & miss.
No problem with getting a sun bed round the pool. But TAKE YOUR OWN TOWELS FOR USE AROUND THE POOL - these are not provided.
3 of the most oversize 'Entertainment' people I think we have ever seen, they as usually were a little to loud, a couple of time playing loud music in the restaurant whilst we were having dinner - what was all that about?
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Vangelis, not sure about the 'Star Rating' for us compared to other hotels/holidays it was 2/3 stars, but it fitted our requirements of a relatively cheap and cheerful 7 days just relaxing and taking in the sun and hot weather.

Could not fault this hotel,we had a one bed apartment in block D at the rear ,and it was perfect for us nice and quiet.The food was excellent, always a good choice and there was a
good selection of hot and cold food during the day.We don't drink alcohol during the day but like a drink or three in the evening,I like my pina colada and Stavros the barman raised his eyebrows when I ordered but he always added a friendly wink,had a few out and about but as I told Stavros his were the tops.As with Stavros every member of staff was friendly and
greeted you with a smile.The pool area was first rate and the guy in charge ( sorry I should
of asked your name) was constantly checking everything stayed that way.The location of the hotel is perfect right in the middle of the strip with a good mixture of bars and some fab looking restaurants.Walk out of the hotel and within two minutes you can be on the beautiful beach and relaxing by the glorious blue water.All in all a great holiday really added to by our
choice of hotel and i'ts wonderfull staff,many thanks to all.
