We arrived at the hotel iliada at 3am on a Monday morning, booking in was quick as you would expect for the time of the morning. Got to our room (017), it was pleasant enough and crashed out to sleep. Awoke early, bottles crashing and just a bit off noise, looked out of our balcony at next door hotel refuse skip, and yard. Went to reception at 8.30am and complained and was told to come back at 10.30 because of no manager had arrived.
At 10.30 there were quite a few couples at reception with problems of some sort. After a few hours the hotel offered us to go to another hotel (Vrissiana Beach) which was two hotels away with an A/I package for the rest of our holiday, but we had to stay in the Iliada until Wednesday and then go Vrissiana beach for four nights and return to the Iliada with the outcome to a better room. The room 124 was a great deal better nice view, sea side view they call it and my wife and I didn’t complain at all.
About the hotel, yes it is dated has other reviews have stated but the hotel has a warmth, the staff are great, hardworking, happy smiling in their work so the hotel has a soul, not like some that I have been too. The pool is of average size, but, you have the Med right on your door step. Food in the hotel is of good standard and I didn’t have trouble finding a main meal in all our stay. Plenty of courses to choose from. The pool dining area and bar served you politely, and the food was what you except from this hotel.
All in all, yes the hotel was overbooked but no fault of this hotel but of the main Tsokkos Group booking office that put the hotel in the predicament it found itself with many guests. This is a popular hotel with many people who come back time and time again. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at The Iliada Beach, after all that had happened.
