“A home from home”

There are some so-called holiday makers who have slated this hotel and staff with no validity at all. The small beach below the hotel is NOT a private beach but is owned by Paralimni council which is why there is always someone there to charge for the use of their sunbeds and umbrellas. Note the germans who take their own mats to lie on (too tight to pay).
As regards the pillows being flat and hard, well ask at reception for additional pillows, simple. We have been visiting this hotel for many years and always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The hotel has undergone quite a few modifications since we first went and this has always been to make the guests more comfortable. It made me laugh when someone said the hotel building got in the way of the sunshine, even in October it is 5.30-6.00 pm before a shadow is cast across the upper terrace. Just how long do people want to sunbathe?

The 'repeaters dinner' for returning guests is a delight. We went to Malta for many years and never got anything like this.
The Cavo Maris management always send out birthday cards, anniversary cards and christmas cards to their guests.
All in all, my wife and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Good - although some tweaks required”

Our party of 8 people (being 6 adults and 2 children) stayed at this hotel for 1 week at the end of October and the general outlook was a nice hotel.

The rooms were clean and equipped with everything you would need. However, the beds were on the hard side.

The staff were extremely helpful in satisfying our accommodation needs that the holiday company had actually failed at. They made the necessary changes and ensured that all rooms were now correct. This did however come at an extra charge

Meal times were an experience, the food variety was very limited but all edible and the staff were helpful in providing one of the children in our party with a special dish as he is very restricted in his diet.

Although some of the staff did lack some basic social skills

This hotel does differ however from any other all inclusive hotel we have ever stayed at. The use of ‘cards’ made life quite difficult and a wrist band would have been easier to manage. You could only have wine, water or soft drinks at meal times and could not bring drinks from the bar in with you. So any beer drinkers will be disappointed. Also the quality of the soft drinks could have been better, as they were from a pump system which was often empty thereby making your lemonade just sparkling water!

On the day of leaving, we were stripped of our all inclusive status and all drinks were then chargeable. This again is a first as any other all inclusive resort will allow you to use the facilities up until you leave. We did however, have our meals included which was OK.

All in all, a nice hotel, the pools were clean, the little cove style beach was nice and the children’s playground was good.

“A good all round family hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

We holidayed for a fortnight towards the end of October 2011. The hotel was extremely clean, inside and outside, the pools were cleaned daily. We stayed in a family room, a double & a twin & there was plenty of room, although the balconies were on the small side. The food was excellent, always plenty of choice, we complained it wasn't hot enough on day one & it was hot there on after. The entertainment was a bit lack lustre on an evening but the animation team were lovely people, my children loved the kids club. All inclusive is the best option with a family, their is so much choice, no queuing either. Although the hotel was run in a professional way, some of the staff weren't friendly enough for our liking, but that is just our opinion. All together a lovely place and we would stay again.

Room Tip: Choose a family suite they are very spacious and wherever you are there will be some sort of seaview

“Dont mention the happy hour”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

The first day we had lunch in the pool bar I had a Greek salad very expensive for a plate of salad leaves.

We the had lunch in the bar. Staff not very friendly. One day ordered a cheeseburger for some reason got a beef sandwich. Waitress reluctantly returned the order to the kitchen. Ordered a gin and tonic got a gin fiz again reluctantly returned to the bar.

Don't mention the happy hour. I was attending my son's wedding in Cyprus albeit in another hotel on the Thursday and therefore did not experience the happu hour on the Thursday. However, did experience the happy hour on the Monday and what an unhappy experience that was.

Before ordering drinks we asked the waitress what time it was. She came back and said it was 17.00 so we ordered alcoholic drinks. When the drinks arrived we were charged the full amount. When we queried this we were told that the till computer was before 17.00, By this time all other guests were looking at us and we were made to feel like the guilty party. Asked to speak to the manager did not happen. We did eventually get a voucher for the difference. I would warn any other guest to be aware of the happy hour in future. We asked the waitress for the time regarding the happy hour but apparently we were informed that this particular waitress usually worked in the restaurant. Really felt embarrassed.

The only positive the cleaning staff were excellent

I do not usually write a review but I though the happy hour experience was appauling and therefore needed to warn others of our experience.

Greek salad is not just a plate of salad leaves. On the contrary, it includes also non-leaf vegetables and other ingredients including cheese, olives etc. and expensive olive oil dressing. We consider the price very attractive (€ 6.90).

Mistakes in orders taken by waiters, although not quite usual in our hotel, can happen in almost any bar and restaurant in the world. We wish to apologise if this happens once or twice during a guest’s stay but this we do not consider as a reason for a guest to call the staff unfriendly. The upload avoids mentioning that wrong items were immediately replaced with the correct ones, with an apology.

The duration of the Happy Hour means exactly what it says. That it lasts only for one hour. Most hotels and bars offer it as, “order one drink and get the same one for free”. In our case, we offer it (for all drinks on the bar list) at 50% discount in order to make it even more attractive to guests who do not want to have two drinks in one hour. Our functions, including Happy Hour, are displayed and very clearly visible outside the lift doors on every floor and the reception area. There is also a display on the bar terrace. On top of that, in all rooms there is a very easy to read list of functions with the Happy Hour clearly visible.

The start and finish times of Happy Hour is computerized so no Happy Hour prices can be applied before or after the Happy Hour. Our investigation showed that, in this case, the order was given 17.15 hrs ie. 15 minutes after the expiry time. Self understood that the staff could not do anything about it (they certainly cannot change the computer programme). The General Manager was not available at that time so that he could fulfill the guests request to see him but, the case was brought to the attention of the Bar/Restaurant Manager who in conjunction with the Reception Manager, Guest Relations Officer and Duty Manager, solved the problem by offering the value back to the guests in the form of free drink vouchers.

It is not unusual in a business with hundreds of staff for, reasons beyond control (ie. illness, casualties, urgent family affairs) to have replacement of staff from one department to the other.

We are really surprised that the Happy Hour experience obliged the guests to post a negative upload and failed to mention any of the hundred other services and standards of the hotel. We would like to thank the uploader for the nice comments about our cleaning staff.
