“We were based here for FIB Music Festival”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

Upon approaching the hotel in our taxi, we were very impressed. It has a lovely entrance, high ceilings, marble floors.. quite grand! We paid rather a lot of money for this hotel (EUR 825,00 for 5 nights- this was the compulsory length of stay!) and they do seem to hike the prices considerably for the FIB Music Festival so the grand entrance was welcome. The check-in was straight forward; for those who couldn't speak spanish they seemed to be able to converse in English at reception.

We let ourselves into our hotel room which was set to the back of the hotel (amazing views of the mountains and even the festival!). It had a high level of cleanliness which was important to me, however the air conditioning left a lot to be desired. We had just left a hostel in Valencia which cost considerably less and even they managed better air conditioning than Hotel Intur Orange. Don't get me wrong, it does work but you do tend to wake up in the middle of the night feeling sticky. It's obviously much better than staying in a tent at FIB but for the money we paid; I'd expect something cool for bedtime. Despite the lovely view from our room, we were also overlooking an area used by the bin men and staff; this was slightly noisy in the mornings but my earplugs helped me out there. It depends how light a sleeper you are. They have excellent black-out blinds for daytime naps and blocking out the suns rays.

The pool cannot be faulted; it was very clean and there was a larger pool (used a lot by the festival goers, a slightly smaller pool (which we used as it was quieter and seemed to be filled with locals and a tiny pool for kids. The staff at the bar and around the pool are excellent and the kids club seemed friendly also. I do speak spanish but the bar staff were happy to converse in English to make things easier. The drinks aren't overpriced and they have things like ice lollies too. By the pool side they had a little tent where you could have a massage. I didn't have one personally but it was nice to have the option. They also set on a 'snack' menu which consisted of things such as chips, a burger etc.

If you're visiting the hotel as part of FIB, the breakfast being included in your room price is quite a good thing if you can manage to drag yourself out of bed. Most mornings we managed to set our alarms for 10am, get up for the buffet breakfast and sleep until 2pm (the festival can go on until about 5am). We spent our afternoons lazing by the pool and taking a short walk to the beach down the road.

The location to the festival is great. We didn't bother buying the shuttle bus tickets and are happy we didn't. We were able to walk to the outer boundary of the festival within 10 mins and it took a further 20mins to follow the pathway laid out by the festival organisers. I'd say this hotel has the best location out of any hotel for the festival.

One final disappointment was when we asked for a taxi to be booked. The 'Public Relations' lady said it wouldn't be a problem to get a taxi to Benicassim train station but that she couldn't book it in advance. She said she would call it for us 45 minutes before our train was due to leave. We returned at that time and she said no taxis were travelling to the station anymore, only long journeys to Valencia/Barcelona. She made no attempt to help us get a taxi and told us to get a bus. My other half and I ran to the seafront with our 2 suitcases to find a bus stop but even if one came, we were going to miss our train. Poor forward planning by the hotel in my opinion and she didn't seem too worried that we were stuck. Obviously this is partly the fault of the taxis but the PR lady handled the situation really badly. Thankfully we were VERY lucky and managed to flag a taxi down eventually and got to the station with 10 minutes to spare. Phew.

Overall our stay at the hotel was quite good, even if it was overpriced. It was worth it to escape the sun during the day; it really is VERY hot at the festival and I saw a lot of overly burnt people. We loved the pool and the bar staff and the breakfast was also enough for you to not need to buy lunch each day! There was also a hillarious karaoke session on the night we arrived which we took part in; brilliant fun. I would recommend this hotel if you don't mind paying a bit extra for a good location. I'd probably say it's more suited to a 3 star rating and there are things that could be improved..

Dear guest,

First of all, thank you so much for sharing your experience with other travellers, it is very important to us to know what our clients think about us and our service so we can keep growing bigger, better and stronger.

We are very glad your stay with us was so pleasant. However, I completely understand the 2 down points you mention on your statement regarding our hotel:

- On one hand, Hotel Intur Orange 4* is such a major hotel that we find it difficult to suit everybodys taste regarding the air conditioning of the rooms, we are working on it and we hope you can enjoy the atmosphere of the room a bit more next time you visit us.

- On the other hand, we apologise for any inconvenience that the information provided by our colleague at the Public Relations office could cause you. This is being looked into by the management team of the hotel. We very much hope you got safe and on time back home.

Overall, we are happy you had a positive experience in our hotel and we hope we can welcoming you very soon again at any of the properties of the company.

With very kind regards.

“We stayed at this hotel during FIB this...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

We stayed at this hotel during FIB this year. They say they are a 4 star hotel but it is actually more like a 3 star. The corridors and rooms are really in need of an update & the rooms are quite small. The selection at breakfast is great & all the staff were pleasant. The pool area is excellent - lots of grassed areas & loungers & 3 pools so the kids keep to 1 end. We would stay again as it is perfectly situated for FIB & the beach but they charged EUR165 a night for a double room B&B which I thought was a bit steep considering we paid about the same at the 2 star Bersoca over the road last year for a much bigger room and all meals were included - they even offered to prepare packed lunches for us to take to the beach & packed dinners to take to FIB if we preferred that to eating in the dining room. Definately going to try for Bersoca next year but the orange is better if you're looking for a great pool

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2009

person found this review helpful

Stayed one week at this hotel in October 2009.
At this time of year the season at Benicasim was over and we spent most of the evenings at the hotel.
Room – nice and clean. We had a room high up with a view overlooking the pool garden and could also see the mountains and the sea. Minus for only one English speaking TV channel, but I think you can get pay channels. Another minus is the thin wall, we heard the people next door all the time and also at night and early mornings when people was dragging luggage in hallway as they were leaving.
Service – we got good help with questions we had about bank link, taxis and buses. The staff at reception spoke good enough English.
Food – we only eat breakfast at the hotel. Lots of choices but the hot food of no quality. Greasy eggs and bacon and not fried enough, otherwise okay.
Bar – was quiet at the time we were there, mostly older people. But staff was happy and helpful and price of drinks decent. Big screen TV with chances to see Spanish and sometimes English football.
Entertainment – There is something on every night but we never went to see it so I can’t give answer to if it’s good or bad.

“Great pool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2008

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days for our 25 + year anniversary and we were very pleased with the facility and with the area in general. Here are some of the items we want to mention:

1. The check in was efficient and helpful. Even though we are Spanish speakers the staff has good english skills. We were one of the few Americans at this place so don't expect to meet a lot of other's from the USA.

2. The rooms were nice, nothing too fancy, clean with a good view of the beach and restful view of the ocean. The balcony was very nice.

3. We had a small issue needing attention and a liason from the admin came quickly to assist us. Good job!

4. The food was good and a lot of variety. The wait staff in my opinion was rude and they appeared over worked. The hotel would do well in helping their waitstaff improve their customer service protocal.

5. The beach was great and an easy few block walk from the hotel. The nightlife along the beach was pleasant in the evening with lots of shops and restaurants.

6. The pool was incredible!! The water was amazingly clean and fresh!!

7. We liked the town of Benicassim. Lots of small cafe's. We took the train from Valencia. Very nice. Taxi service was availble with a call from the hotel.

  • Liked — The Pool
  • Disliked — Restaurant Wait Staff. They were rude.

“Fiber Fib at Intur Orange!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2007

people found this review helpful

We stayed at Intur Orange in Benicassim for the Fiber Fib music festival this year and I just wanted to include a few tips for future travellers seeing as I use Tripadvisor constantly to plan my trips! Also see few tips enclosed for the hotel and area.

Hotel: Beautiful foyer for a 3/4 star hotel! We are all quite fussy travellers by the way and have travelled extensively so the hotel really is a good one apart from the minor room/carpet dullness. Above the first floor (which contains the restaurant) the carpets really need to be replaced but in fairness, who is looking at the carpets when on holiday and anyway, you have a choice of two normal lifts and one glass lift to bring you to your floor so you won't even notice the carpet!! The bar leads out to the pool area, where we had many a drink at night before the festival started. We stayed for a week and the festival was from the 19th to the 22nd July. It is really relaxing at night after 8 in the hotel bar and the drinks are the normal price you would expect. (I suppose that's coming from Ireland where the cost of living is quite high!) I think a draught beer (little over half a pint of Campania) was about €2.10. Sometimes you got much bigger glasses for the same price. TIP: the glasses are stored in fridges so when they hit the heat the condensation runs all over your clothes so keep a napkin on the bottom rim of the glass to avoid looking like you've wet yourself!!

Rooms: We stayed on the first floor. Average rooms with little imagination but perfectly clean and functional!! The shower is powerful, which I love and is important after a day at the beach or the festival!! Every room has an identical balcony overlooking the hotel grounds (front and back). Quite a nice complimentary bathroom basket with toothpaste, bruse, razor and the normal lotions and potions for shower and bath. Air con is very good in the hotel in general and in the rooms, which was really important to us as July in Benicassim is very hot!! TIP: Bring a store card or something like that with you because you can leave the air-con on while you go to the restaurant so it is nice and cool when you get back instead of having to leave your keycard in it. Don't leave it on all day though as this really is selfish when you think of the state of the environment! There's no need anyway as it cools down really quickly. The curtains have a special plastic curtain, which you should draw when you are out of the room to maintain the coolness.

Food: We were on half board basis as I think was everyone else staying there. The food is really great. Don't listen to any bad reviews about the food. I challenge even the fussiest eater (of which we had 2!) not to find something delicious! Basically, all meals were buffet. Breekie: Pastries of all sorts, breads, meats, cheeses, bacon (quite fatty) frankfurter sausages, any kind of egg you wanted (just ask the chef in the middle of the buffet for fried egg etc. he does it on the spot) tons of fresh fruit, yogurts, I could go on! All drinks from drinks machines over to the right of the restaurant. I missed them for the first meal until someone pointed them out. There are three islands in the restaurant from which to choose. Don't miss out on the one furthest away from the chef! Dinner was different every night. Just to give you an idea. Paella, steak, loads of different kinds of fish, pork chops, lamb, chicken dishes, chips every night as well as other kinds of carbs, beautiful salads of all kinds. I love salad so this was heaven. I think I put on more weight from the constant trips back to the salad bars than any other course. Desserts consisted of jellies, ice-cream every night, yogurt, chocolate mousse (to die for one night) and all sorts of angel delight concoctions and sponges, black forest cakes etc. and of course loads of fruit!

Fiber Fib: This hotel IS THE nearest hotel to the festival but don't be fooled by this! Not in a bad way, it's just the way the festival entrance is laid out! Basically, we had a 30-40 min walk to and from the festival, not the 7 mins they tell you. You can see the main stage from the hotel balcony but you are led around the festival in a full 360 to get to the entrance! Really badly laid out for the likes of us but the only entrance is right beside the campsite area so that's why. I guess if you are going to a festival, you should be camping. We are just gone past the wee outside the tent stage in life! 6 of us went altogether and had a blast. The only downside was the walk to and from the hotel but in a way, it was a good way to walk off the over-indulging in the restaurant and the bar! The actual festival area itself was gorgeous-really laid back and very accessible to everything. Imagine no toilet queues!! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING WATER INTO THE GIG WITH YOU IN! TIP: Bring a small bottle of water with you, or 2. They will take the caps off the bottles as you enter but if you bring a couple of caps in your bag you can replace them when you get in! You cannot but drinks (beer and coke, water etc.) with money. You must have a drink token. Each token costs €1.25 and a small beer is 2 tokens and a hugh litre beer (hard to cary but more cost effective) is 5 tokens. TIP: We spent 45 mins in the queue for drink tickets the first night only to discover that there were loads of places to buy them further inside the venue! Very annoying. Keep walking past the first couple of queues and go down near the main stage to get your tickets. No queues! One area to look out for is the chillout zone. The main stage doesn't open till 9pm most nights so you can spend the afternoons/evenings here. It is basically a small pool with fake grass and loungers and parasols but is a really nice touch and if you get there around 5 or so in the evening you will get loungers no problem. It was situated right beside the silent disco and in front of the second stage, which meant you could lounge out and llisten to live music from that stage! Bliss! I've never experienced a festival quite as laid back as this and I've been to loads!! No rows or pushing. They obviously only let a comfortable number of people in and once in there, there is so much choice as to what you want to do! Lots of stalls there too selling gorgeous vintage tees and smiths, doors, bunnymen kind of clothes as well as some cool unusual Technic merchandise for those of you into that!

Apart from the hotel and the gig, the town itself is a good 5-10 bus ride away but if you go out of the hotel and turn right you are at the beach in an easy 5 min walk. There are loads of restaurants and bars around there and beach shopping possibilities but just to let you know, this is not the town, just the tourist area. Nothing mad to do in the town, so I'd advise chilling out on the beach with the most comfortable loungers I've even had for €7 each for the whole day. Includes a hawaiian type parasol, two loungers and lounger cushions. You need to leave a towel etc, if you are going for lunch to ensure the guy in charge doesn't take if from you! Beautiful beach, volleyball area, long walk on the beach, lovely and sandy and great waves for lots of fun. Hope this has helped! ENJOY!! :)

  • Liked — Food choice and pool bar area and location to Fiber Fib festival. Also nearby water-park!
  • Disliked — Rooms need some updating but still very clean and comfortable.
