“THE WORLDS WORST HOTEL AWARD!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I generally read most reviews and take things with a pinch of salt, which I did in this case, but if I could turn the clock back I would. This is the worst place in the world to stay and I say that without hesitation.

this place is an absolute hell hole. They try to charge for everything. Air conditioning, tv and even a kettle we were suppossed to have broken. The Pool is no bigger than a couple of bathtubs.

They had the cheek and audacity of accusing my son of ruining the mattress and wanted 250 euros from us. We told him where to go and the son, who by the way is a complete wierdo started a fight. My missus who was 6 months pregnant had to try to split us up. All while my own 3 year old was watching.

We did however complain to the travel agancy on our return and contacted a solicitor and yes we did get all of our money back.... so in the end it turned out well. But what a hell hole this place was... in fact we only used the room for sleeping in because of the stares and gibe we got from the owners.

Dont stay here... unless you are old and like to sit in a tiny little bar all day beside a tiny little pool. Heed the warnings on this site. Please for your own sake!!

I cant believe it when people write awful reviews of the Esmeralda Appts. My partner and I have been staying here twice a year since 2002. It is the only place for us. The food is excellant the owners cant do enough for you and we are treated like family. Cant wait for next year.

“Unprofessional owners and personnel!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

The room was very average and we had to change 3 rooms due to lack of clean bathroom and floor. The owners requested rudely more money than the amount we have agreed when we arrived. Unbelievable!!!!!

“Esmeralda Hotel - 5th visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

As a return traveller this review will be somewhat biased as we love staying at the Esmeralda. This was the first year we stayed here with the kids ( aged 14 and 6 ), Dimitris once again was the ideal host and the food was excellent, we had the largest room in he hotel and it was immaculate plus we had two balconies each getting sun and shade at the opposite ends of the day so we were spoilt for choice wether to grab more sun or cool off in the lovely agean breeze. The hotel is 1 mins walk away from the legendary Tommies Bar so we were in our element, cheap english beer on tap and a guaranteed fun evening if we so desire. We bumped into old friends who also frequent the Esmeralda every year and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, needless to say i was gutted to leave and wished i had booked 2 weeks. As its on the main road yes there are cars and mopeds up and down all day but it never has or never will borrow me, my nerves are completely under control and i can quite easily relax with some background noise, yes the planes are landing nearby and the hotel is on the flightpath approach but its not an issue for us. If you want serenity and complete silence then book a private villa in the middle of nowhere and enjoy wallowing in your own company. Dimitris rates for air con are ( STANDARD prices ) and rooms get hot as it is a very hot country ,you might find windows are locked as a security and safety measure but the sliding doors to the balconies all have mosquito screens fitted ( by the way saw and encountered no mozzies here and never have ), for a very comfortable nights sleep i always budget for the air con. Dimitris is the driving force in the hotel and speaks the best english, he is very fluent and will always do his upmost to mak your holiday enjoyable, the rest of his family are just as hard working but they do not speak much english but you can get by, as it is family run you can expect the personal touch and we always feel as though we are staying with friends, children will get spoiled here but unruly children must be kept under control, the pool is deck level and as the whole area is tiled it is quite dangerous for kids to run around in the eating and bar area dripping in water, if your kids run riot expect to be asked to have them behave in a reasonable manner, as far as the edge of the pool and sunbeds then its ok, the pool by the way is just the right temperature and immaculately clean, nobody got ear infections !! Nobody ever does here !! If your easy going and want to relax but have plenty of services and amenities nearby this is the hotel to go to, if you want crisp white sandy beaches, silence and perfection in all aspects then pay a few thousand more and go to Mexico. One mans meat is another mans poison - i'll be going on holiday here untill im unable to travel through severe old age or i cannot afford to. You can eat and drink your own food etc but not by the pool, so, when you feel hungry you go eat in your room, have a drink in your room too - but i like the idea of being on holiday and having to do sod all so we eat and drink from the hotel bar/restaurant - to me that is a holiday, not toiling to and fro from supermarkets carrying bags of shopping and stressing about not having to spend an extra 200 quid, but thats just me ??

If you want noise and a boiling room , and unfriendley staff ,this is for you, otherwise stay away .If its not cocks crowing.dogs barking .its buses and cars, and planes over head ,We stayed 2 weeks ,dont know how !!! We were self catering ,windows locked so we would buy A/c but i was not paying £14 per day for this. The pool next to the road ,cant talk with out shouting ,fumes from cars and busess (awlfull) . The owners watching your every move ,in and out , cant bring any drink or food to the pool area unless its bought from them . It was a pleasure to leave there. Two grumpy unhelpfull people couldent speak a word of english and a son not much better just want your euros , And Kremasti not much cop ,we got a car and traveled about . .
