We stayed at the Valsami July 08 for 2 weeks. Nice apartments, very clean. However, you only get clean towels every 3 days. The place is very well run, very clean and is excellent value. The pool is a good size, if a little cold at times! The restaurant is fine, however we only ate there a couple of times.
The hotel sits in between the small towns of Kremasti and Trianda. There are a few other hotels around the Valsami and a couple of restaurants and bars, otherwise it's pretty quiet. The beach is about 300 metres away. The beach is clean, however it tends to be a pebble and shingle beach. Perhaps not ideal for very young children.
Kremsati is about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. It's not a bad place, more of a working town rather than a tourist town. There a re several restaurants there and a few bars.
Trianda is more of a tourist place, with lots of bars and restaurants. There are loads of hotels by the beach. This is a much busier and livelier resort. A taxi to Trianda will cost around 6 euros.
Rhodes town is great - especially the Old Town. Well worth a visit. If going from the Valsami it cost abut 11 euros in a taxi.
We were the only Brits at the hotel, as the majority or holidaymakers were from Holland. This in itself was not a problem, but it did mean that often my 10 year old son, did not have other children to play with. The Valsami and other hotels in the area seem to cater mostly for the Dutch.
Otherwise it's a well run hotel, with fairly good accommodation, clean and safe. An average main meal from the restaurant will cost about 8 euros per person, with a beer costing around 2.50 euros. There are a couple of restaurnats very close to the hotel, but they can be fairly expensive. Better going into Kremsati or Trianda - more choice!
If you're looking for somewhere fairly quiet - the Valsami could be for you. A good family place. If you're looking for a wild time - I would go elsewhere!
