If you like an ok price for the family, this is the best part of staying at this hotel. The next best part is that it is ok surroundings. The hotel has one big pool, and one childrens pool. The hygiene in these pools are hard to know anything about. Anyhow it should be mandatory to have showers by the pool at any familyhotel, to shower off all the germs and clorine after a bath!!!! Valsamsis doesn't have that.
The worst part of staying at this hotel is that they take 8 (!!!!) euros pr. night for aircondition. That is BLACKMAILING. Include that when you first order aircondition, it is regulated by a relè that turns off much earlier than it should. I.E.: If you want to adjust it to 17 degrees Celsius, it turns off at about 28 degrees! Therefore, it would be much more effective to open the main door and the 2 doors to the backside, and every window in the apartment, rather than having the aircondition. The backside of this choice is off course the unrelaxed feeling of unsecurity you will get, for instance being burglared in sleep, or waking up and finding your kids are not there! You can try all three solutions: A) Close the doors and the two small windows and turn on the aircondition. You will sleep lousy that night! B) Close the doors but not the two small windows and turn on the aircondition. You sleep lousy that night as well! C) Don't rent the aircondition first, just have all doors and windows open and try not to think of being burglared or losing you kids. You sleep lousy that night anyhow!
Include the next worst thing about this hotel, the airplane noice! Some mornings about 06:30 you will wake up to airplanes seemingly landing at the roof of the building, due to the hotels location, directly beneath the airplanes approach route to the airstrip! The rest of the mornings they start landing between 07:00 and on. You will not fail to wonder, as well, when you lie there in your sunbed a couple of hours later, if or when an airplane will miss the landing strip and hit the hotel and other buildings in its path.
Other things: The cleaning staff is friendly and effective, but not thorough!
The other personell is quite service minded.
Due to the situation in Greece in July 2011, the taxi strike was not nice. If you travel back to your country by night, and you have ordered a travel voucher for taxis, you will probably run into some problems. (As we did.) When we arrived, the strike was begun, but they had set up buses (instead) to the various hotels. The night of the return, there were no buses to pick us up! We were stuck with a receptionist on duty alone, with a taxi strike and no bus. The solution to this, after some discussion with the receptionist, was that he had to drive us to the airport in his private car. This was the most impressive part, that he actually went to the neighbouring hotel and got the reseptionist there to keep an eye of both hotels, when he drove us the 5 km.'s to the aiport. That is serviceminded! He even wouldn't take money for the trip. But all in all: I will not stay at Valsamis one more time!
