My friends and I have been going every year for the past five years, and recently went back for more of the same -- and again we were not disappointed in the least. The place books you for 7 days, plus the day you arrive. You get 6 days of fishing, all meals, snacks, and a lot of relaxation and good conversation with the other guests. The food is really great - and I love to eat! At breakfast, you can order basically anything you can think of, although their specialty is the huevos rancheros (of course, 7 hours on a flats boat without a real bathroom discourages me from that particular dish - I stick with an egg white omelet). You pack lunch yourself, from a wide selection put out that morning, and it is loaded by the staff onto your flats boat in an ice chest. When you return from fishing, you get a snack - the best are the hot, freshly made tortilla strips, salsa, or some fish and shrimp ceviche. For dinner, everyone gets the same, delicious dish - could be BBQ chicken or ribs, fresh snapper, a steak, more fresh fish, plus the famous "mexican night" which includes a full buffett of local specialties. They have a full bar, and bring you drinks before and after dinner under the "palapa" in front of the sand and ocean breezes. The island is totally isolated, so there are no phones, no TV, nothing else on the island other than the sister resort about 30 minutes down the island. The people are from all over the US, and even the world, so conversations at dinner, breakfast, and relaxing outside are terrific - part of the fun is meeting people and trading fishing stories. The flats are like nowhere else in the world, with lots of fish, birds, islands, and natural surroundings. If you like flats fishing, this is THE place!
