“Absolutely fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I stumbled into Punta Allen after a car rental gone bad scuttled my vacation plans. All I wanted was a friendly and quiet place where I could relax, and i fund everything I was searching for at Serenidad Shardon. Nikki and her staff made me feel like I was one of the locals. In the course of my week I was invited to help teach English in the town kindergarten, learned how to hand fish in the lagoon, and spent an afternoon watching the lobster fishermen clean a big catch (they invited me in for a late lobster lunch and it was the best damn lobster I've ever had). This is one of those rare places that you grow to love and want to keep all to yourself. If you visit, plan to stay a while (I recommend staying at least a week). Trust me, you won't want to leave.

we arrived just after hurricane rina when punta allen was evacuated. we found nikky's place open and she gave us a very warm welcome and beautiful place to stay! I'm absolutely recommending her place! Perfect location right next to the beach, super clean and nikky's a very nice host! we loved our stay with her! don't forget your mosquito repellent ;)

“This might be the end of the earth, and it's AWESOME”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We showed up without a reservation, which is quite the brave move when you consider we brove almost four hours on a sand road to get there from Tulum. They had a room and we were shown to what I can only best describe as the "Robinson Corusoe" house. It wasn't on the beach, but everything in this town is within one minute of a beach. It came with exposed piping and shower, mosquito nets over the beds and all the conveniences of a town who shuts their generator off at 10PM can offer. It was heaven. I woke up at five to go out for what is called "Nace del Sol" or the birth of the sun and it was awesome. Any food you get there was probably in the water a few hours prior. I do reccomend a four wheel drive as there are some treacherous spots. Hertz told us we were getting a 4WD Jeep, only neglected to mention it had been disabled.

The hotel is awesome, I had breakfast there that morning and instantly wanted to buy the spot from them. What a great place.

Room Tip: All the rooms have different levels of awesomeness and individual benefits. I reccomend talking to...

“No place like it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

You must take the time for the jungle drive. It is long and can be difficult, but the reward is so worth it. Follow the road to the end and you will find Serenidad Shardon. You will be treated like family, and Niki is a dream hostess. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to be accomodating. Every time I go back, it's just like coming home. You will not regret this trip, and like me you'll want to come back again and again.

“Serenidad is a delight!”

More kudos for Nikki Allen and her staff. We took the collectivo and what a trip in and out!
Then a magical boat ride to Punta Allen. The town is no frills and very peaceful. We even had a hard time finding a place to eat after we arrived. Some major wind and rain the morning (4:30 a.m) the day we left, but NIkki was generous enough to get up and take us down to the ferry. Gracias a thousand times!

Getting there and back is tough, but it is what protects it from the pretty awful development north in Tulum and beyond. The only drawback of PA is that we wanted to rent a boat and explore but couldn't find one for under 120USD an hour...

If you go to PA stay at Serenidad--
