At 105 euros for a delighfully decorated twin room in this highly characterful historic building, looking out over a very attractive park, this was excellent value. The next door Alter Wirt Hotel (same ownership and management) has a restaurant which again is very reasonably priced and provides many typical Bavarian delicacies. The location is very central to Bernau itself (right next to the church and historic martyrs' monument), and is a short drive from the quayside from which boats may be taken to Herrenchiemsee.

“15th century castle at affordable prices. Beautiful!”

You arrive in small town of Bernau am Chiemsee to find a beautifully-preserved castle/mansion from the 15th century. The building, gardens, and rooms are beautiful, and the price was extremely reasonable given the summer time, and its location 5 minutes away from Lake Chiemsee or the mountains. You can relax in the garden and look at the flowers, bike to the lake, or go to a nearby town for a ride up the mountain. Excellent and relaxing choice for short vacation to this gorgeous region of Germany.
