“A Superb way to visit the real Barbados without breaking the bank”

I have to admit that we have been fortunate enough over the years to visit Plum Tree Rockley on many occasions and God willing intend to keep on doing so.
Sandy Lane it is not, but then Sandy Lane and the costly and over-rated West Coast is not for us the real Barbados.
Sadly the "moneyed" development of the West side of the island has turned it into a "little America" It is overpriced and in places even the beaches have been wrecked by over development. If you want clinical five star attention at five star plus prices then of course the West coast is for you.
The Bajans are the most friendly people you will find anywhere and the staff at Plum Tree have always and still are efficient, helpful and friendly.
As a non-golfer even I can appreciate the 9 hole course at Rockley, it is maintained to the highest standard and for those who do play must be great to play on. The Restaurant on the course is great fun and has been driven by its new owners into a welcoming and very reasonably priced eatery.
The location of the resort is fantastic as a base for visiting the rest of the island and is within 15 minutes walk (unless if you use the shuttle service) from some great bars and beaches. If relaxation is what you need then this is an oasis, quiet, well maintained grounds and away from the main coastal strip although not too far.
Barbados has some gems in terms of attractions, some better known than others, do go to Hunte's Gardens for a real experience.

“For Me....Perfect!”

Rockley Plum Tree is not for everyone. If you like big, busy hotels with tons of actiivities and vacationing children running around and sharing the pool with the crowds, then this is not your place. It is our kind of place, small, tranquil setting, being wrapped by the golf course, friendly people and best of all our own little kitchen to make breakfast and enjoy it out on the balcony in the warm Bajan morning sun, my favourite time of the day. A very short walk to the beach which only helps workup an appetite for lunch and a rum punch. Can you tell we love it!

“Not very nice”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

We will never stay at Rockley Plum Tree Club again, we arrived late at night and the only person at the hotel was a security guard who was very rude when I asked if there was a dish washer, he showed me a small bottle of dishwashing liquid which was watered down. The bath towels were discoloured and very worn which I did not use for the week I stayed there, the beach towels left on our bed was dark blue with a large stain on one of them, did not use these either. I've stayed at other 2 1/2 * hotels which had clean white bath towels.
We had a 7 a.m. flight back to N.Y. and asked the manager to reserve a taxi to take us to the airport at 4:30 a.m. the driver arrived at 4 a.m. (which was okay) but we were charged $50.00 Bds. (we paid $34.00 bds to go from the Airport to the resort when we arrived) the taxi driver said that that is the amount charged because it was early in the morning, I think that we were ripped off.

“Great holiday”

My family of four had a great time at Plum Tree. The bedrooms had a/c and we comfortable but living area was a bit hot (make sure and open the sliding doors and let some fresh air in). We had a nice patio area in the back and ate most of our meals there and enjoyed the lovely trees and greenery and birds. The kitchen was well equipped and it saved us a ton of money making our own meals. The pool was empty for our entire stay so we had it all to ourselves which was spectacular. We rented a car so we got around well enough (the beach and eating places were a bit too far to walk) The staff was very accommodating. Be mindful that you have to pay for wireless which was very slow - but at least it was at a relatively reasonable cost. (BBD$15 for 10 hours) In all it was a restful and relaxing and very enjoyable weekend for us!

“Great value resort in Barabados”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2010

The staff and facilities at Rockly Plum Tree are top notch. The swimming pool is lovely. The shuttle scedule to and from the beach was a blessing with high temperatures but the beach is certainly within walking distance. A grocery store is also nearby with a free shuttle to return you to your condo with your groceries. The restaurant at the golf club which is just a little stroll across the course has great food at decent prices but there the office staff can direct you to many local restaurants with delicious fresh fish or anything else that might interest you.
The only thing I can think to make it better would be to move the TV's into the bedroom where the air conditioning is so it could be enjoyed more on those really hot evenings. (The living room does not have a/c but we did not find this too bothersome since there are double patio doors and shutters on the kitchen windows for a nice cross breeze.)
Rockley Beach is beautiful and every kind of restaurant you could hope for is within walking distance from there.
