My partner & I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in June 2010 as we were there touring the battlefields.
This hotel is very central for Albert town centre & anyone visiting the Somme battlefields. The back of the hotel looks onto the Town Hall, the front, onto the street leading to the town centre.However it is still very quiet and a decent nights sleep had everynight.
Parking was a doddle as there are spaces out the front of the hotel & the owner also kindly offered us use of the garage attached to the hotel.
We were welcomed by the owner, he was very pleasant, speaks no English but this didn't prove to be much of a problem as he gets the idea of what you are saying to him.
The room allocated to us was on the 2nd floor,it was clean & tidy with a good size bathroom, a television with a couple of British channels & ample wardrobe space.
Don't expect any of the mod-cons you would get in a modern hotel as this hotel is far from that, what you do get here is a real taste of France, from the decor to the food.
We ate in the hotel restaurant 2 nights in a row, the food is absolutely superb and quite cheap , alot of the locals eat in this restaurant too.The hostess was helpful & very polite, extremely good at making you feel relaxed.
The bar area is small however has a wide choice of coffee & alcohol, we sat in the bar for a couple of hours while the toilet was being repaired in our room, with drinks on the house ofcourse for the inconvenience.You would never get service in a huge hotel like we did in this one.
Highly recommend to anyone staying in Albert for a few days,we're booking up again to go in August.

I have stayed here quite a lot of times while touring the battlefields with 3 other friends. It is only rated as a basic hotel, but it is clean, you are made very welcome and it has a bar and restraunt, what more could you ask. It is a typical quirky french hotel, but isn't that better than a multi chain with little boxes all the same? It is very close to the town centre, and we have never had any problems getting parked outside. There is a bathroom on the landing, but my personal preference would be an en-suite room. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who is happy with my findings above

A modest two star hotel located in central Albert, France. Our check-in was delayed as the door was locked upon our arrival. We rang the suggested number on the door, however no-one answered and were left waiting for 10-15 minutes outside, fortunately the weather was good. Finally a gentlemen arrived to let us in and so the check-in process began.

The room allocated was basic and contained a double and single bed as well as a desk and TV. The room is in need of a facelift, however is quite spacious. The bathroom is a little small as is the shower, so it could become difficult for a large person to manoeuvre. Dinner and breakfast were included in the price of our lodging E108 per room. The evening meal was very good, and even if you do not stay at this hotel I recommend a visit to the restaurant. Breakfast was substantial consisting of croissant, baguette, juice, tea and coffee as well as stewed fruit. The service in the restaurant was efficient and friendly.

The location of this hotel is central to most sights of Albert; therefore you are able to walk around the small town. Our room was located on the street sight of the town and the noise was at a minimum so a good night rest was achieved.

We spent two nights at the Hotel de la Paix as part of a tour of the Somme and Ypres-Salient. When we booked, we were told to advise the hotel if we would be arriving after 2pm as it was a Saturday and reception was not open at that time. We arrived at 6pm and there was a sign on the front door with a number for us to call; luckily we did not need to as the owner was nearby and spotted us arriving so let us in. The hotel was locked up and dark, not the most welcoming sight in an unfamiliar place. Our room was a double with ensuite and in need of refurbishment. We did not expect all of the usual hotel style attributes, but this was more like a downmarket bed and breakfast than anything else. There was far too much furniture in the room, making it very cramped. Getting hot water in the morning took a long time. Breakfast was simple but nice, with pleasant service. We will look to find an alternative hotel when we return to the area in 2010.
