The hotel is everything you could wish for. It is set in a lovely calm and peaceful village where the only noise you hear is the sound of birds singing. The proprietors were charming and very friendly. They have spent the last 15 years renovating an old Staging Post and all the rooms have retained the atmosphere of bygone ages but were fully functional for today's purposes. Our room was very spacious with lovely views. The restaurant was charming and the food was excellent. The garden and outside terrace were beautiful.
After a visit to the tragic village of Oradour sur Glane this is the perfect spot to recover your feelings and emotions.

We endorse the other reviews - you really won't go wrong here. The manager was very welcoming and helpful. He speaks good English, and indulged my attempts at French.

It is situated in the middle of quite a small village, but easily found, and well situated if you are planning to tour the region. There is a spacious free car park opposite the hotel, but it is public rather than private.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, and evrything worked. Dinner was beautifully served from a varied, but not too expensive menu. Breakfast was fine, if fairly basic. Everything was well up to the standards you expect from Logis de France (on whose website we found the hotel), and overall the value for money was predictably good.

Do not hesitate if you are going to be in the area. We are looking for an excuse to return! Also - do not miss the moving memorial and exhibition in the nearby village of Oradour-sur-Glane (scene of attrocities in 1944).

This hotel was recommended to us by the manager of the Logis de France hotel in St Junien.

We arrived (with 2 children in tow) to a very warm welcome by the owners who offered us a well appionted family room with wonderful views.

We ate in the restaurant in the evening and enjoyed the best meal taken during our 10 day trip to France. They also catered for our young sons who enjoyed their food. The service was relaxed and friendly with an excellent choice of food and wine available.

Breakfast the following morning was very pleasant, with all our tastes catered for.

We would recommend this delightful place to anyone travelling in this region of France, and hope to return ourselves if the opportunity arises.

We spent 24 hours at this hotel (a Logis de France) which we happened upon as a result of a good review in Guide Routard. The review was well justified. The hotel was very comfortable, run by a very friendly and efficient couple (who speak excellent English), and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We had a large, well-equipped room with a beautiful view across the lake and hills.
Cieux is in the Monts de Blond, a very pleasant area for walking and relaxing, about an hour west of Limoges.
