“Well deserved accolades”

My sister and I stayed with Alison and Michael for a week. All of the positive comments about the walks, the accommodations, the food, and the hospitality in the other reviews posted here are true. They deserve an enthusiastic and unequivocal recommendation. We experienced everything just as others have reported. From the first greeting to the sendoff, you instantly feel as if you truly belong there and that no one else is as important as you. That is the caliber of hosting from Alison and Michael. Anyone who wants an active vacation in a magnificent setting with many opportunities to learn and explore, and with truly fine cuisine to boot will have every expectation and, then some, fulfilled. We liked the options provided to us for the walking. For instance, there were times when one could choose to stay in a location rather than hike on, and Michael or Alison would come pick you up later. They know a lot about the area and gave us ideas for destinations on our ‘free day’ as well as our drive back to London that proved to be additional highlights of our 2-week stay in Cornwall. Additionally, if you have questions either prior to or after booking, they are most prompt and thorough with answers and information. My recommendation would be to list every positive, superlative word in the dictionary.

“A thoroughly enjoyable break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

This was definitely a short break with a difference and certaily exceeded my expectations. Alison and Michael provided a nice personal touch with excellent food, a warm welcome and good guided walking in a lovely farmhouse setting. Can certainly recommend - came home refreshed. So in spite of strong winds some varied walks, not too strenuous, but enough to give you a hearty appetite for that home-cooked food. Will definitely aim to go back in the spring.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Old Dairy with large comfortable bed, pretty furnishings and a good shower. Quaint...

“5 Days of Bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Two friends and I had five days staying at Michael and Alison's B & B with the added bonus of guided walking tours of the gorgeous Corwall coast every day.

I cannot speak too highly of the gorgeous home farm B & B we stayed at with gorgeous, healthy and delicious meals from breakfast to dinner. Ali is an excellent cook, and Michael makes a mean Cornish pastie for the walks.

Michael is very knowledgeable, but doesn't bang on unnecessarily. He has the knack of gauging how much his guests/fellow walkers want to engage.

Lastly, but not least is the beautiful Ellie who is Michael and Ali's dog. She comes walking every day, we were all completely in love with her and seeing her walking across the fields and along the beach brought such joy to my heart.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Made this Aussie love Cornwall even more.
Jen

“"We had a great time"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

This place surpassed all our expectations. The house is gorgeous and so homely; the food is the tastiest I've ever had anywhere, and quite healthy too, even ice cream that tastes that good has to be good for one - yes? Breakfast, packed lunch, dinners, all so fresh and delicious. The walks were great, even if I did puff a bit going up hills. The group were great craic, as we say in Ireland, all lovely interesting people. We were lucky enough to be there for trad session in local pub on Monday night, don't miss it. In fact we went to the 'Old Smithy' every night, lovely pub, lovely staff, so make that part of trip too. Unless you're good on TV & Film trivia, don't get talked in to taking part in the quiz, we disgraced ourselves - but sure that was good craic too. We can re-iterate all the comments about the scenery, the local history info, the paths we traveled and the stops we made - all true. We took Michael's advice on our free day and visited Pencarrow House, and Fowey which was a lovely day too, but you do need a car to do that kind of sightseeing. I actually had a lump in my throat, as I waved goodbye to all the lovely people, who felt like friends at the end of our week. Thanks you so much Ali & Mike

“Walking holiday with a difference”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

My husband and I had not been to Devon before so wanted to get a flavour of the area. We are active but not hill walkers so were unsure how much of the guided tours we would manage and were prepared to do other visits if necessary. However , we were able to participate fully, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There was a party of seven on the tours which quickly became a friendly, cohesive group Our guide, Michael, [and his dog Ellie] made the walks interesting and varied .Each evening he would discuss the next days walk, offering alternatives and allowing the group to decide their preference.
The terrain is varied with stony tracks, muddy paths and rough grassland so good boots are essential. English weather is unpredictable and we certainly needed light weight rainwear. The walks were significantly different but all included magnificent scenery.

Room Tip: Rooms vary but all are to a very good standard. We chose a premier with an excellent en-suite showe...
