The hotel has a nice swimming pool and a lovely breakfast terrace.with fine views. The hotel is immense and caters principally for conferences and weddings, I imagine. It is in between Palermo and Monreale on a very long and narrow side road. The drive to Monreale is not for the faint hearted and the only car park we could find in Monreale was more or less deserted and pitch black at night. We decided to return to the hotel for dinner rather than risk the car park. The head waiter had to see whether the chef had packed up - at 9.20 pm! Apparently he hadn't, but we had to order outside the menu without any real choice. The food was OK and was very reasonably priced, about 85 euros for 5 of us including fruit and ice cream and a bottle of wine. One of our rooms had a strange plumbing problem. When the bath was used water seeped up from a drain in the bathroom floor and covered the entire bathroom floor to a depth of an inch or so. The maintenance man said that this was "normale" insofar as I could understand the exchange between him and the receptionist. As we were leaving Sicily the next day (Saturday) we asked if we could keep one of our rooms till 3 pm. We were told that this was not possible as the hotel was full that night. I found this a little surprising given the size of the hotel and the very few guests who were at breakfast that morning, but we had no entitlement to stay past the check out time and our luggage was kept safely in the hotel storeroom.
