This is the third time we have stayed at Amaryllis Beach Hotel, and quite frankly, despite the cons, we would stay again.
Pros:
Beach, beach, beach. Amaryllis has an excellent private beach location with a reef that allows the waves to be gentle. Love having breakfast outside on the terrace while watching the birds and waves and suntanning people out front. Love keeping my sliding glass door opened at night to hear the waves crashing on the sand.
Location--walk to 2 great restaurants, take the Hop-on, Hop-off bus to Oistens, near enough to Bridgetown and cruise terminal.
Cons:
Rooms are adequate, not very comfy. Ask for Room 403 though! Gorgeous bamboo canopy king bed and corner room with 2 private balconies. Mattresses are hard, as are pillows. Bathrooms show wear, but have good water pressure (a MUST for me).
Internet cost. We stayed 4 days and bought the week package to save money.
Meals at the hotel are --wowsers-- expensive! We bit the bullet and paid for morning breakfasts, however, for the view and no hassle.
Additional Info: Oistens Friday Fish Fry night was overrated. Crowded, noisy, and expensive. The Hop-on, Hop-off busses are an experience NOT to be missed! Hang on for dear life, and have fun! Near Amaryllis is a restaurant called Brown Sugar. Walking distance, and fantastic. Wonderful ambiance, good Bajan cooking.
Room Tip: Book the lowest rate and then upon check-in, smile nicely and see if they can move you to a beachfro...
