“Get me out of here!”

Arrived today. Receptionist was miserable and fake. Bathroom light did not work. Hot water did not work. When I called reception they offered no apology. Waiter was also miserable and unfriendly. Food tasted like plastic. The whole place smells like must and bleach, including the air conditioner. I have nothing positive to say about this hotel other than it is centrally located and on a beautiful beach. Would rather be back at the Marriott!!

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel.

“Amaryllis Beach Resort Barbados”

Great location on the beach, shade provided by mature palm trees-quiet area, warm sheltered bay, continually being cleaned throughout the day.
Rooms were a little 'tired' but redecorating was taking place whilst we were there.facilities in room were excellent, we had a studio which included cooking facilities - ideal for breakfast and snack lunches (we dined out every evening and had some lunches at the hotels turtle bar which provided an adequate choice of food and drinks)
We ate at various restaurants in the area including the hotels 'Almond tree restaurant' where the food was excellent, a good choice from the a la carte menu and a daily special, the female chef 'Sherran' was very pleasant and informative on the menu and other local dishes and was always pleased to help.
The rooms were cleaned daily and linen and towels changed regularly. a seperate beach towel was provided and couls be changed as required.
All staff were pleasant, helpful and polite.
One really nice 'touch' was the availability of iced water free from a dispenser on the sunset bar throughout the day ( easily accesible from the beach)
Live Entertainment was provided for diners in the evenings.
Overall a great place to stay, as the roaming monkey's have found out !!

Room Tip: Had a room on ground floor facing garden, very quiet and near pool for a quick dip before breakfast

“Relaxed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Myself and my wife stayed at this resort in February last year as part of a stay and cruise all inclusive package with Virgin. Although the rooms could do with refreshing we could not fault this resort, the food the staff and the beach in front of the hotel was excellent. Spent a day on a catamaran with Calabaza had a great day and enjoyed Oistins on the Friday night. Doing the same again this year but staying at the Savannah next door. would rather be fired from a cannon than take the boogie bus again " Terrified"

Room Tip: Go for the Ocean view

“Pro and Con”

This is the third time we have stayed at Amaryllis Beach Hotel, and quite frankly, despite the cons, we would stay again.
Pros:
Beach, beach, beach. Amaryllis has an excellent private beach location with a reef that allows the waves to be gentle. Love having breakfast outside on the terrace while watching the birds and waves and suntanning people out front. Love keeping my sliding glass door opened at night to hear the waves crashing on the sand.
Location--walk to 2 great restaurants, take the Hop-on, Hop-off bus to Oistens, near enough to Bridgetown and cruise terminal.
Cons:
Rooms are adequate, not very comfy. Ask for Room 403 though! Gorgeous bamboo canopy king bed and corner room with 2 private balconies. Mattresses are hard, as are pillows. Bathrooms show wear, but have good water pressure (a MUST for me).
Internet cost. We stayed 4 days and bought the week package to save money.
Meals at the hotel are --wowsers-- expensive! We bit the bullet and paid for morning breakfasts, however, for the view and no hassle.

Additional Info: Oistens Friday Fish Fry night was overrated. Crowded, noisy, and expensive. The Hop-on, Hop-off busses are an experience NOT to be missed! Hang on for dear life, and have fun! Near Amaryllis is a restaurant called Brown Sugar. Walking distance, and fantastic. Wonderful ambiance, good Bajan cooking.

Room Tip: Book the lowest rate and then upon check-in, smile nicely and see if they can move you to a beachfro...

“Excellent, Quiet Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We visited Barbados forour 25th wedding anniversary and stayed at The Amaryllis Baech Resort. The resort is an olderfacility but quiet and well maintained. The beach is protected by a man-made reef but is a public beach. We had an ocean front room and the mornings were a pleasent and relaxing time spent eating breakfast on our deck. The tempearture was so constant we rarely even used our AC. The facility had a great pool and restaurant. Plenty of places to eat nearby. We rented a small SUV and expored the city and the countryside. The hotel staff was very freindly and made our entire stay a week to remember.

Room Tip: Try to book a 2nd floor oceanfront room to watch the sunsets
