The apartments were spotlessly clean, spacious and well furnished - probably the nicest I have stayed at in Greece. My one criticism (and what stops me giving 5 stars) was the poorly equipped kitchen area. Now I don't want to necessarily cook a full meal but I'd like sufficient utensils to let cut a loaf of bread and get an egg out of the pan, for instance. Still it added comedy value watching me try to hack a thin baguette into submission with the small bendy knife we had (didn't dare aim to try a full loaf of bread) and my daughter just about managed to get fried eggs out of the pan without mangling them too much with an odd small round knife-like object. There's a well-equipped supermarket just across the road and nowhere is more than a 10 - 15 minute stroll away. Despite being so central there was never any intrusive noise to stop you getting a good night's rest. The family that own the apartments are really friendly and helpful and both sons speak fluent english. In Stavros's case, with a thick Manchester accent and accompanying swagger! I'm not much of a fan of organised entertainment and usually run a mile at the word "karaoke" but thoroughly enjoyed watching Stavros hosting their karaoke evening while getting steadily more drunk. The other son, George, stays in the background more but has a wry sense of humour once you get to know him. Special mention has to go to the cleaner. I never once saw her without a smile on her face despite being up with the lark sweeping the grounds and working well into the afternoon cleaning the rooms. She even stopped to chat with us and check were happy with everything when we bumped into her in the village! We ate in the bar area a couple of times and the food was well cooked, very reasonably priced and the portions were generous.
I probably won't be returning to Pefkos as I was a little disappointed in the resort but, if I did return, I'd head straight back to Summer Memories (but I might take a bread knife and a spatula with me!)
