We stayed at the Caraib'Bay Hotel in Deshaies for 10 days in May 2010 and it was perfect.
For you to know, we are a family with two kids aged 5 and 2 and the layout and equipment of the bungalow was exactly what we needed. The rooms are spacious and clean. On the ground floor is a living room we converted to the sleeping area for the kids, the bath and a little kitchenette and upstairs is the master bedroom. Outside is a table and chairs so you can eat lunch or dinner.
The bungalows are set in a lush and tropical garden, hummingbirds hover around and I even saw an iguana one day.
The pool is clean and completely fenced so no danger for the kids. Our daughter learned to swim in that very pool.
We also had breakfast included and there is no complaint about that. You will find fresh fruit, bread, cereals, milk, tropical jam, butter, coffee, tea, some cheese and meat, not fancy but good quality.
They do not prepare meals at the Caraib'Bay Hotel apart from the breakfast but just opposite the hotel you find Dominique’s little restaurant and take away. You can’t miss it, the house is painted bright blue with orange blinds and you should not miss it. We have been surprised with many delicious, exotic meals and for 10 Euro you get enough to almost feed a family of four.
In the evening the bar opens up with a nice selection of drinks and Johnny (Jean-Eudes) knows very well how to mix them. Try the cuba libre, his are the bests I ever had.
Staff at the reception (Dominique, Jean-Eudes) and the owner Benoît are always very friendly and helpful. We had a little car accident and Dominique from the reception kindly assisted us in calling the rental agency and filling out the forms.
All these positive aspects are also reflected by the fact that the guests in this hotel are very relaxed and friendly. A “Bonjour”, “Good Morning” or a little chat was part of the breakfast “routine”.
