“Superb location, tremendous value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2010

A last minute decision to stay overnight at Berck before taking Le Shuttle back to England lead to us staying here. The beach-side location is superb (and unique), accommodation was pretty basic (we had a studio - booked a 2 person one, but allocated one for 6), but for 40 euros the value was tremendous. Quiet hotel room with the necessary facilities, pretty clean, friendly reception staff, secure parking for 5.50 euros. We did not eat at the restaurant, preferring to look for somewhere else while wandering the town (a real find in La Chantilly). We would stay here again.

“Small room, cold, very small bathroom”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2010

The room was clean, but very small. As the bed was nearly long enough for me I had to sleep cross. No heating on and on full power, the heating was not warm. Shower was so small that I had to leave the door open in order to wash my feet. Toilet was 30cm from washingtable. My knees ware pressed in the washtable when I sat on the toilet.
Coffee was not ok. The price was not exagerated, but in that way not cheap also.
I will look for another hotel next time.
My free wifi never worked.

“The only waiter in the restaurant thought he was playing a part in Fawlty Towers.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

Room OK but furnishing worn, window leaked onto carpet. View wonderful. Bar deserted and we were unable to locate any staff so proceeded to the restaurant which was empty apart from one couple. The waiter groaned when he saw us and his attitude grew more surly as another couple arrived. My food very tired apart from the dessert which was profiteroles - still frozen solid. I drew the attention of the waiter by demonstrating the hardness, hitting them with a spoon. He shrugged and said have something else.
Hotel position wonderful but appears to be badly in need of refurbishing/painting inside and out.

“Poor Facilities”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2009

We stayed at this hotel because it had good facilities.

Unfortunately when we went to the restraunt at 18.15 to book for that evening it was already fully booked with one large party, so we eat elsewhere.

When we returned to the hotel at 21.00 hours the bar was closed, and we could not find any hotel staff.

The snooker and table tennis tables were not available.

Might as well have atayed in one of the cheaper chain hotels.

“Chilly reception”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2008

I stayed at the Neptune because the hotel where I wanted to stay was closed, the resort was out of season and it showed.
The hotel receptionist was more interested in chatting on the telephone than greeting customers, when we were given our room allocation she pointed towards the lift and left us to it.
The rooms are very small with even smaller bathrooms, however in its favour it was well heated, given that the temperature never got above freezing for our entire 4 day stay we were very grateful.
The much advertised dining room was closed and we had to walk into town for dinner, there are plenty of reasonable eating places in the main town area.
Breakfast is self service, even down to getting your own coffee, not very inspired food, tinned fruit as opposed to fresh and weak fruit juice.
Maybe this place is better in the summer but I can't quite see how.
Overall a disappointing hotel.

  • Liked — The bedroom was warm
  • Disliked — Unwelcoming attitude of the staff
