“most beautiful design hotel in spain, top cuisine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

Traveling in winter is not easy, but then, to be as lucky as we were to find this beautiful hotel with top service! To sit on one of the terraces in the sun, enjoy the see views, appreciate all the small details in design and attention for the guests....The owner cooks together with her partner, this is better then El Bulli, Alain Ducasse or whatever other big ''chef'' (we have been there!...). On top of this we slept very well, comfortable beds, super breakfast and the hotel is very nicely situated in the old town so you can easily walk to the old centre of Altea or to the coast(and leave your car in their carpark)...we will be back!

“La Serene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2009

My husband and I stumbled across this little boutique hotel on the internet and we're not disappointed. After staying at much more expensive accommodation elsewhere in Spain, we felt we received the best value for money at La Serena. Situated half-way between the old town and the beachfront, La Serena had both delightful rooms and staff. Attention to detail, a great kitchen and a personable staff are among its highly valued assets. After paying ridiculous prices for parking throughout Spain, we were able to deposit our hire car for free out front of the property and the staff also offered to do our washing (more than a month load) for no additional cost. The willingness to go that extra mile is extremely rare for a European hotel and won our high praises. Rooms were huge with great amenities including bathroom products. Couldn't recommend the hotel more highly. L. Bond

“Brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2009

We have just arrived back from a week at La Serena and loved it. We found it through Alastair Sawday and it didn't disappoint. The rooms were amazing and we were moved to a balcony room for the last few nights. It was quiet and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Would highly recommend a stay at La Serena and not a football shirt in sight!!

“Beautiful Hotel”

My girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel for several nights and loved everything about it.
The location is ideal, we wanted to be as close to the Church Square as possible and this hotel is only 3 mins walk from the hustle and bussel of the small romantic streets of the old town of Altea. The interior is amazing, cutting edge architecture complemented by fantastic bespoke interior design. The room we had was spacious and very clean, with a very large comfortable bed. Our terrace over looked the sea and we could also see the famous church in Altea it was that close. I parked the car in the hotel car park as everything is within easy walking distance even the beach was an easy walking distance 10 min max. The staff are lovely and the restaurant provided a lovely breakfast.

We our selves did not have dinner in the restaurant as we wanted to explore all that Altea had to offer. There are dozens of restaurants to choose from and the selection was vast.
Altea is an expensive town, so don't expect any "meal of the day" for 9 euros from any of the restaurants in this area. Be prepared to pay somewhere in the region of 40 euros per person for 3 courses, this would be pretty standard in most restaurants.

I could not fault this hotel, not to sure why its only 3 star, as we have stayed in 5 star hotels here in Ireland and this hotel was easily a higher standard than some of them.

Both of us are looking forward to coming back again.

“Perfect romantic hideaway in an otherwise touristic area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2009

Found this place through "Room" Magazine and we weren't disappointed. Really cozy and trendy hotel. Nice rooms with design elements, some with gorgeous views of the sea. Ours didn't have a view but it was still great. It reminded me of some of the trendy places we stayed in Mexico because it's got a beachy feel to it, although it is a few blocks away from the beach. The food was amazing but not cheap. The caramelized apple with anise cream is to die for. It's the kind of place where you should go if you just want to hang out at a nice trendy hotel with a pretty pool. It was just what we needed.
