“Warm welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by a warm welcome. The rooms were basic but bigger than expected. We had a bedroom and kitchen with table and chairs, fridge with small freezer compartment with came in hand when we wanted ice cubes and basic cooker if you really wanted to cook. We found there was no need to cook as there were plenty of restaurants to choose from in Kos Town. We hired bikes for a couple of days which meant we could explore more of the island like the thermal spa and Tingaki under our own power. This is the best self catering hotel we have stayed at both for the size of the room and for the warm welcome from George and son and all the staff involved in the running of the hotel. Would come back here again and would recommend to others.

“welcoming and realxing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Just returned from 10 relaxing days spent at the Ampavris. We found everyone very welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived, and all the staff made us feel very much at home. Our apartment was basic, but clean and well maintained.
The pool and bar areas were clean and the drinks and meals from the bar were reasonably priced.
The apartments are set in a quiet area just outside of town, but the delights of Kos Town are within easy reach,as is the bus station if you want to explore further afield. We enjoyed the walk into town, and found it was nice to stroll back up to the apartments at night to walk off some of the delicious food we had eaten.
One testamant to how good the apartments are is the numbers of people we met who had been there numerous times before. We were so taken with the Ampavris and the friendliness of the family and staff that we are thinking of going back next year.

“clean family run, value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

we stayed at these apartments in september 2011. it was a last minute booking, and the price was really good. arrived at 2.30am, and were taken to our rooms by one of the owners sons, who didn't bother us for passports or details or anything that you usually get when you arrive at hotels. apartments were large, basic, but very clean. set in lovely well kept grounds. towels/ beds were changed every 2 days. and always kept clean. run by a lovely family. there was a snack bar that did a variety of meals, but the portions were a little small. very relaxed atmosphere, no fighting for sun beds, lovely pool with kids pool fenced off. all in all, great place with lovely views (as its up an hill) about a 20 minute stroll to town where there are plenty of places to explore with a lovely harbour at front. would deffinitely go back there. was one of our favourite holidays

“good value apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

We travelled to Kos with friends and chose these apartments because they were a reasonable price.
We loved these apartments, they were spotlessly clean, towels were changed every couple of days along with the beds. There was a small kitchen area with a fridge, kettle and small 2 ring portable hob. A toaster would have been more useful than the hob and you will need to take a tea towel and dishcloth. What would have helped in the rooms was some hooks to hang things on. As the rooms were small there was limited wardrobe space which was ok, but a few hooks on the walls/backs of doors to hang towels, bags, clothes etc would have helped. The rooms were very quiet and dark when the curtains were pulled so it was good for sleeping. If you go in high season you will need to pay for air con, but it was not too expensive.
The only other problem with our room was the shower. The shower hook had been placed too high on the wall and the shower head would not reach! We had to use it as a handshower, but our friends shower was fine.
We were in the newer block whilst our friends were in the older block, but both were fine. George, elena and their sons were lovely, along with all the staff.
The pool area was nice and you could always get a sunbed what ever time of the day that you went to the pool. The main gripe about the pool area was that the sunbeds had no pads on them and were very uncomfortable. We bought lilos to put on them. Also there was a lack of umberellas and the ones that were there were a raffia type that had gaps in so the sun still came through. There was always a nice breeze around the pool area which was good.
It was a 20 minute walk down to the main town, but we enjoyed the walk as there was plenty to look at on the way. We walked down and back every night so didnt need a taxi.
All in all a good place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone. I cant believe anyone who said the rooms were dirty.

“Fawlty Towers of Kos”

This family run resort is a shambles and in desparate need of renovation.

The toilets are small and dirty.

The majority of the apartments are missing the bare essentials that you would expect if you book an apartmen, e.g. a kettle and a microwave.

The most important criticsm I have of the place is that the ground-floor room that I was staying in had sliding wooden doors which could easily be open from the outside. My holiday was spoilt by having to constantly check my room to see if anyone had broken in. It was reported but nothing was done about it. Totally unacceptable.

The only slight positive I can report on is the pleasent pool area.
