If you are after a hotel with character then this is the place for you. The hotel itself could be hard to find but just follow the signs for Dunadry town and you'll manage to get there. It's really in the middle of nowhere but the facilities in the hotel are good enough to compensate for that. I did notice a bar which does food just down the road although we didn't frequent it.
The hotel has an oldy-worldy feel about it with huge wooden doors and low beams. The rooms were nice, maybe could do with a bit of modernisation but you wouldn't want it too modern or it would take away from the character of the place. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room and the usual toiletries left in the bathroom. If you get a room on the ground floor the patio doors open out onto a large patio. Might be noisy in the summer though if people are sitting outside drinking.
We ate in the Bistro which is set up like a restaurant. We opted out of the restaurant due to the prices. The food was amazing. I would highly recommend you eat there. Prices and menu is available on their website. We also had drinks in their bar which was very quiet for a weekend. The bar cloased about midnight but we were able to ask at reception and they provided us with more drinks. We stayed there until about 2am and there didn't seem to be any hurry to move us on.
This would be a lovely hotel for a wedding. The staff were very friendly and accomodating and the feel of the place would be a lovely setting. The grounds also are good for photos.
All in all a very pleasenat stay.
