“My experience of Glebe House was not only horrific, but a health hazard and a place to stay well clear of !!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2010

My self and my wife, along with my brother and his wife, booked two double rooms at Glebe House for the 30th of October 2010, when we arrived around 5pm. Marion was not there herself, but had left a note on the door telling me the door was open , to go ahead in , and also the number's of the rooms allocated to us, on entering the hallway it seemed beautiful , we nosed in the reception room and it was very nicely furnished, however when we started to ascend the stairway, there was large area's of the wall covered in mould, the wall paper was peeling down everywhere, when myself and my wife went into our room it was cold and bleak , no central heating, but we found a dimplex heater in the closet.there was also no hot water whatsoever. I then went to my brother's room , he was reluctant to complain as I had made the booking, they had immediately noticed flies, but then we glanced at the wall behind the bed, and there were hundreds of little fly's grouped together on the wall, It was infestation of fly's, they certainly had not flown in through a window.and in both room,s the wallpaper was peeling from dampness. when Marion did arrive, she was indifferent to our complaints. naturally we didn't stay.and even though it was getting late, we managed to find alternative accommodation. there was also no sign of any other staff or other amenities mentioned on the web site. My opinion is, this was at one time a splendid house. but is now in a state of rapid dilapidation, and in urgent need of refurbishment.and should be closed by the authorities until the whole place is fumigated and refurbished. you can contact me at alanpigott@eircom.net........

“Charming, Great value and great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

We only stayed for 1 nights B&B. Delighted with our stay. Lovely helpful and accomadating staff. They made us tea and sandwiches when we arrived at no extra cost. I was there with my wife and mother-in-law to attend a local wedding and we were all glowing with praise after! Highly recommended!

“Quiet as a mouse.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2009

We used Glebe House as a base for a wedding at nearby Lough Rynn Castle. Although the rooms are a bit basic (no iron or hairdryer) they were clean and comfy. We arrived after an early morning flight from the UK and Marion immediately made us a pot of Tea on arrival and offered to make us lunch. I can't describe how quiet the place is at night, you can hear a pin drop whilst lying in bed. A typical Family run Irish Guest House perfect for couples getting away from it all.

“Very Friendly and relaxed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2009

My partner and I stayed for one night as we were at a family wedding in LoughRynn so needless to say we didn’t spend a lot of time here. We found Glebe house to be prefect for what we needed, which was a bed and breakfast. Best thing – late breakfast 12.30 you won't get that anywhere else. Can’t stand B&B’s with their 9.30 cut off for breckie.

“Were we staying at the same place?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2009

Just browsing thru reviews and was not going to write one for Glebe House until I saw the two hateful reviews.I cant believe we were staying at the same place ..We were met with courtesy and friendliness.this lovely Georgian House is set in beautiful grounds and the house is well furnished ,clean and welcoming. We were here for a funeral of our Aunt and the hospitality and genuine and warm.Admit the place was full to capacity so maybe that created its own athmosphere.
We were given complimentary tea / cake on arrival.,directed to where we wanted to go ,having not been to Ireland since we were children.
This is someones home and not a nondescript hotel in Las Vegas or an impersonal chain that we have all become accustomed to .I could not find fault with anything here, during our four day stay.
We left with nice memories of what could have been a very sad occasion

We will not be frequent travellers to Ireland as the chain is broken ,but we will certainly be recommending this place to anyone wanting a nice place to spend a few days.
