My wife and i have just had a weekend at the Holiday Inn Garforth,we stayed on a Holiday inn offer, from there web site,The hotel as a good leisure centre, all be it a little dated, rooms are comfortable, breakfast excellant, and the staff could not have been more helpful. The hotel is located well for a visit to york, and Leeds and half the price ,of the city hotels,We will defineately use the hotel again

Room Tip: We requested a quiet room before arrival, and were allocated room 140,which was as we requested

Many thanks for your great comments following your recent stay with us and it was good to hear that you felt your weekend break represented good value for money. We are glad you enjoyed use of the complementary leisure facilities during your stay and that you found your room comfortable. As you comment, the hotel is in a great location for visiting both Leeds and York and has quick access to the motorway network for our guests. It was wonderful to hear that our staff gave you great service throughout your stay and that you will be returning to the hotel again soon.

“I wouldn't say don't stay but wouldn't recommend it either.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The staff were lovely, very professional and helpful. The reception, bar and restaurant area were very nice. Unfortunately the rooms were not of the same standard, quite small for a double (I'd have hated for there to have been two of us in there!) and definitely in need of an refurbishment.

The rooms were clean enough but not sparkling.

The water smelled strongly of chemicals and ran white for several minutes. I would advise that you purchase bottled water from the nearby Sainsbury's for the kettle!

Internet wasn't available in the rooms and was very slow in reception. This would be bad enough if it was free but for £10 a day it's unacceptable. I was told, when I asked, that I couldn't get it in the room and would have to sit in reception to access it.

The restaurant staff were excellent, I cannot fault the service at all. The rib eye steak was awful, tough and tasteless, expensive for what you got. The rest of the meals were quite nice but pretty expensive compared to other hotels plus the prices went up whilst I was there.

Breakfast was quite good but with the world's slowest toaster. Croissants were stale so I didn't bother with those again.

The gym is very small and gets pretty packed as it's not a dedicated hotel gym and the staff that I encountered kept disappearing and seemed pretty bored with the whole process. It was impossible to get on the machines and when you did you felt under pressure to get off as people were waiting. It's simply too small to cater for gym membership and hotel guests.

Compared to other places that I have stayed the Holiday Inn is very expensive in comparison. The restaurant is also expensive for what you get.

I won't be rushing to go back but it's okay if you need to stay in the area overnight.

“Friendly people, poor service”

I had stayed at this hotel before when it was a Hilton and enjoyed it, but I no longer feel I could recommend it.
We made 2 small requests to reception, regarding a broken soap dispenser in the shower and milk for coffee, both were forgotten. The worst thing was dinner, where we were not warned of a huge works Christmas party. The only option was to have what they were having, and we were charged a massive £34-50 for a very ordinary carvery.
Holiday Inn asked for my feedback, and referred my complaint back to the hotel twice. It has been ignored so far.

“Dirty, tired rooms, but great food in the restaurant”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I travel to Garforth once a week on business and was looking for a cheaper competitor to the Thorpe Park close by. Having stayed in many of the local hotels i thought i would give the Holiday Inn a go.

Pro's: The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were helpfull

Cons: I have stayed at the Holiday Inn three times now and twice have been allocated rooms which have been in poor state of repair, dusty and grimey bathrooms. I checked some of the reviews online and as suggested by many, requested one of the refurbished rooms. I have to say that although I feel you get what you pay for (my room rate was £73), although the refurbished room was better you can get a much nicer room at an equally competative price at the premier inn just up the road. Dont be sold on free internet access or the leisure facilities. The internet is slow (or not available) in the rooms with the antenna being just about in range to pick up a low quality signal, you need to sit in the bar to really use it properly. The gym is very small and very busy in the evenings, unless your going to get up early to use the facilities i wouldnt bother. Overall if you want cheap stay at the premier inn, if you want comfort stay at the Thorpe Park

“okay but needs a clean in places”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

I stayed here for 1 night on business. The room was small but everything you needed in it. The kettle needed a good clean which also contained water from the last residents. The bathroom looked clean until you noticed the black scum around the bath plug holder on the wall as could the over bath shower fixings as underneath was dried soap scum.On check out I was amazed that the receptionist too a long time checking out the man before me asking him if everything had been okay, information about the car park barrier etc. If she had bothered to ask me I would have put my concerns about the cleanliness to her but as she didn't bother I have taken this route . I wouldn't return here for these reasons.
