“Beautiful chateau B&B”

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in this beautiful chateau. Pieter and Willemien, our hosts warmly welcomed us with drinks in the library. Our spacious room with ensuite was impeccably clean, with very comfortable bed, central heating and views of the lush grounds.

Our hosts provided us with good directions to the sights of Angers and excellent suggestions for local restaurants, especially Auberge de la Sarthe, with lovely views of the river; their food was delicious with excellent service.

Thank you Pieter and Willemien for a very pleasant stay.

  • Liked — Quiet rural B&B, friendly hosts, comfortable and clean.
  • Disliked — We were very disappointed that dinner advertised on Chateau de la Buronniere's website was not offered, breakfast was just adequate.

“The perfect Chateau experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2008

A five week travelling experience through France would not be complete without staying in a Chateau in the Loire Valley, and what better place to stay than Chateau de la Buronniere to fullfill this experience. We booked it over the internet and weren't disappointed on arrival. The chateau and the surrounding estate are stunning in every respect. Beautiful buildings, lovely gardens and magnifent trees set against its own lake make for the perfect atmosphere from which to enjoy the stay. This was all topped off by the loveliest hosts in Pieter and Willemien who made us feel right at home. We felt more like we were old friends than simply paying guests from the moment we arrived. The Chateau is exqisitely furnished along with very comfortable beds which are a treat for the weary traveller.
Each evening the large open fire would be blazing in the sitting room to welcome us home from our days adventures in the Loire.
Whether you are staying 1 night or 10 nights you must avail yourself of Willemien's cullinary skills at least one night if not more.Possibly the best meal in 5 weeks of travelling through the length and breadth of France, including many resturants with inflated reputations.
I have recommended and will continue to recommend Chateau de la Buronniere as a must stay if you are staying in the Loire Valley

“Memorable Stay! Loved the Ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2008

My wife and were thrilled with the experience we had at the Chateau de la Burroniere! After 5 days in Paris this was an wonderful place to stay and relax. Beautiful grounds, beautiful Chateau, and superb hosts. Pieter and Willemien were such personable and warm hosts, they really made us feel welcome.
The three days we were there we traveled around the Loire Valley regions to see the sites. It was so nice to come back to the Chateau and have some wine and relax in the beautiful surroundings. The room was very spacious, huge actually and very comfortable. In the evenings we would sit in the Library (or Study area) and have some wine, relax and read a little. Willemein is a fabulous cook, the last night there we were able enjoy a wonderful meal with some great guests from Britian.
It was just a great place! We would go back in a heart beat!!!

“Beautiful Chateau in Loire Valley”

This Chateau is breathtaking... we walked in and I was so overwhelmed by its grandeur I was speechless (no mean feat!). Madame and Monsier Van Der Nat – Verhage were impeccable hosts. Monsier Van Der Nat – Verhage built a fire in the library for our evenings while Madame Van Der Nat – Verhage assisted us in navigating a parking ticket. The breakfasts were superb and much larger than typical French breakfasts, including eggs, wonderful lightly stewed cherry tomatoes and regional meats as well as the traditional croissants. Our room was incredibly large with double doorwells separating the bedroom from the bath and french doors that opened onto the gardens. The grounds were also amazing with horses, a duck pond and winding trails that led around the other chateau buildings, all dating as far back as the 15th century.

  • Liked — Large room, great tub as well as shower, wonderful grounds!

“Brilliant”

Simply delightful stay. Large rooms, lovely property, great bathrooms. Owners were kind and most helpful with all of our queries. A similar castle in the UK would be four times the price. Welcome to France! Great for families.
