This is a small but comfortable hotel situated next to the Alhaurin Golf development. We stumbled upon it in May while exploring Costa del Sol and decided to stay there when we returned in September. The hotel is very Spanish in its decoration. The room is quite large, the breakfast is great and the lounges are comfortable. A visit to the Club House of Alhaurin Golf is a must as the stunning beauty of the mountains and valleys surrounding the Club took our breath away. The drive to Mijas is only ten minutes but it was a hair raising drive along a high cliff with many bends. Mijas Pueblo has a lot to offer. We still can't get over the cheap price of Euro $13 for a three course meal which quality is comparable to that of a 5- star hotel in Australia. With the Euro tumbling, it is even cheaper now. Look for the restaurant run by the Canadian - I can't remember the name but the locals will be able to help you find it. If you want to get away from the mad crowds in the coast, or are lovers of mountains and golf, this would be the place for you. The towns of Alhaurin El Grande and Coin are only about 10 minutes drive.

The hotel was very friendly basic and perfect for a few days playing golf. The golf course is one of the most difficult in Spain set in the mountain, make sure you have lots of balls as it is almost impossible not to lose 4. The course in mid september was full of divers and impossible to walk unless you are an athlete. The marshal was very unfriendly.

“Ideal for a quiet break”

Just got back from a 6 night stay at the Alhauran Golf Hotel. Excellent late deal price with Hotels4u found via triip advisor. We are familiar with the coastal area and wanted a change. We hired a car and drove from the airport( malagacarhire.com has UK tel contact on web site)excellent service very efficient no waiting.
Unless you just want to chill out around the pool we feel you need a car, apart from the hotel restaurant there is the club house (10 mins up hill walk through residential area) there is an authentic restaurant on the roundabout, and a bar that serves meals, and a petrol station for basics just around the corner from the Hotel, all within easy walking distance, we did not try the club house restaurant, lunch is available here though.
We stayed H/B, most of the meals were very nice, and varied you can upgrade for the al a cart menu for 15 E pp this menu includes several veal choices. Breakfast has everything you could want, everything is clean and the terrace is lovely,
We upgraded to a superior room after three nights,(when a room became available) as we wanted a better view, the rooms are exactly the same the view from the superior rooms is over the pool and a nice breeze comes up from the valley. The superior room appeared to have been well used and could do with redecorating.the A/C was not as efficient as the standard room, both rooms and bathrooms were very spacious huge beds 2 almost double beds per room with good quality mattress's.
No bar/drinks/snacks or lunch available between 12-4pm ?this surprised us for a 4* hotel.
Visit Mijas is a must only 10 mins drive, breathtaking views and easy multi storey car park available. 25 mins easy drive to Fuengerola.
Restaurant staff work very hard, all staff at this hotel were very pleasant and professional.
very relaxing stay and excellent value for what we paid.

Room Tip: standard rooms are located at the back of the hotel overlooking an area of land and the base of a mo...

“Good value for money”

Nice hotel with only 30-odd rooms, 4-stars is about right. Rooms large and reasonably well-appointed with a very large terrace which was sunny from 4 o'clock onwards, although the "mountain view" wasn't too inspiring. Breakfast is buffet-style with a good range of hot and cold foods, etc., but beware the coffee from the machine - it is dire. Quality of food from the a la carte menu in the restaurant was excellent. Interestingly, this hotel runs with the minimum number of staff - usually one on reception, one at breakfast, one for dinner (hotel doesn't do lunches so nobody required) and one maid who kept the room spotless. The golf course and clubhouse are about a kilometre away throught the urbanisacion. Waiters/bar staff in the clubhouse are excellent and they offer a three-course "menu del dia" lunch with good choices for just over €10. If you are a golfer, the Seve-designed course offers some interesting challenges and a buggy is a must.

Room Tip: Pay more for the superior rooms which overlook the pool.

spent Christmas here with my husband. If you are looking for a quiet resort with great staff and amazing golf this is the place for you. the rooms are huge and the food was great. We played a couple of courses in the area but Alhaurin was by far the best in our opinion. Its tough but enjoyable and suited our handicaps 21 and 18. Will definetly return
